The future is full of possibilitiesโ€”but which ones are worth pursuing?

For this meeting, the ๐˜ผ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™š๐™ค ๐™”๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™Ž๐™˜๐™ž๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐˜พ๐™ก๐™ช๐™— took on two scientific issues that sit right at the edge of innovation and ethics: ๐Ÿงฌ ๐˜พ๐™๐™„๐™Ž๐™‹๐™ and its application to ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ซ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฌ, and ๐Ÿค–๐™–๐™ช๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ข๐™ค๐™ช๐™จ ๐˜ผ๐™„ in ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ž.

Rather than simply learning about these technologies, we stepped into the ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐š ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ž๐›๐š๐ญ๐žโ€”taking opposing positions and putting our arguments to the test.

The ๐’‚๐’‡๐’‡๐’Š๐’“๐’Ž๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’—๐’† and ๐’๐’†๐’ˆ๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’—๐’† teams explored what these innovations could make possible, while also confronting the risks and questions that follow. One argument led to another, questions became challenges, challenges became rebuttals, and every response demanded more than an opinionโ€”it demanded ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ! ๐Ÿ‘€

The debate ๐’‘๐’–๐’”๐’‰๐’†๐’… ๐’–๐’” ๐’•๐’ ๐’๐’๐’๐’Œ ๐’ƒ๐’†๐’š๐’๐’๐’… whether something ๐‚๐€๐ be done and consider whether it ๐’๐‡๐Ž๐”๐‹๐ƒ be done. And perhaps that is where the most important part of the discussion began.

Because scientific progress isnโ€™t measured only by how far we can go, but also by how carefully we decide where to stop. ๐Ÿง

With every question thrown our way, we learned that science isnโ€™t just about having answersโ€ฆ itโ€™s about ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด them, ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด them, and ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜!

Though it was such a challenge to do soโ€”it was safe to say, ideas were tested, perspectives were more open, and our curiosity was ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ง ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐›๐ž๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ž.

Last ๐—๐˜‚๐—น๐˜† ๐Ÿด, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ, the Ateneo Young Scientist's Club๐Ÿฅผ had officially held their first meeting successfully. Starting with a ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐Ÿ’จ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป of the club, the meeting informed the new club members what they can expect๐Ÿ‘€for this school year!

What followed next was a ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ถ๐˜‡๐Ÿ“, challenging students of their stock knowledge regarding the different branches of Science such as ๐—•๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ด๐˜†๐Ÿฆ , ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐˜†๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜€๐Ÿš—, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜†๐Ÿงซ.

To end the meeting, members had elected an additional ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐Ÿ‘”to ensure a smooth and wonderful experience throughout the academic year. ๐Ÿงช
