Riverside Elementary School officially opened its RES Intramurals 2026, bringing together learners, teachers, parents, and stakeholders in a vibrant celebration of unity, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The opening program was graced and led by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆 𝗣. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, School Principal III, together with 𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝗺 𝗬𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗔. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇, Assistant to the Principal, and 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗿𝗯𝘆 𝗔. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗼, PESS Coordinator. Their inspiring leadership and unwavering support paved the way for a meaningful and memorable opening of this year’s sporting event.

More than a competition, the Intramurals is a celebration of friendship, discipline, perseverance, respect, and school spirit. Riverside Elementary School successfully conducted its Safety and Security Orientation in partnership with the Calinan Police Station (PS10). The activity brought together our school personnel, parents, and learners in a shared commitment to fostering a safe, secure, and child-friendly learning environment.

The orientation focused on strengthening awareness of school safety and security practices, enhancing preparedness during emergency situations, and promoting collaboration between the school community and the Philippine National Police in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on campus.

Under the leadership of our School Principal, Mercy P. Barsales, EdD, Riverside Elementary School remains committed to promoting a culture of safety, preparedness, and shared responsibility.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the officers of Calinan Police Station (PS10) for their invaluable support and informative discussions, as well as to our teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, and learners for their active participation.

In response to the recent earthquake and in continued pursuit of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, Riverside Elementary School conducted a structural safety inspection on June 10, 2026, to carefully evaluate the condition and stability of school buildings and facilities.

The evaluation was carried out by engineers from the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) Programming and Design Division, namely Engr. Valerie Hane T. Buenaflor, Engr. Gift C. Gulayan, Engr. Karen Cielo Morante, and Gene Anthony Salazar, in coordination with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Davao City II District Engineering Office, Engr. Rommel Joffrey Rey Madarang and Engr. Reymond Competente.

The school administration is currently awaiting the official assessment and recommendations from the concerned authorities regarding the usability of school buildings and the possible resumption of regular classes.

Riverside Elementary School remains committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all learners, teachers, and personnel.

𝐎𝐧-𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The City Government is working closely with the DepEd Davao City Division and CHED Region XI on the ongoing structural assessment of educational facilities.

Face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions MAY likewise resume tomorrow, June 10, 2026, PROVIDED that their respective institutions have completed the necessary structural assessments and have been declared safe for occupancy by the appropriate authorities.

Educational institutions that have not yet completed their assessments or have not yet been cleared for occupancy shall continue to adopt online or distance learning modalities until such time that their facilities are declared safe.

DepEd and CHED Region XI, together with their respective educational institutions, shall inform learners, parents, and personnel regarding the resumption schedule of face-to-face classes.

The City remains under BLUE ALERT status. All BDRRMCs, volunteer groups, and partner agencies are hereby advised to remain on standby, pre-position the necessary equipment and supplies, and submit situational reports to the Operations Center for consolidated monitoring and coordinated action.

Any changes or update shall be announced accordingly.

As we open another school year, we look forward to new opportunities for learning, growth, and meaningful experiences. While School Year 2026–2027 may bring its share of challenges, I am confident that, together, we can overcome them and make this year a successful and rewarding one for all.

To our teachers, this school year may require some adjustments, especially with the three-term calendar. Change often comes with challenges, but please be assured that the Department of Education remains committed to providing you with the guidance, support, and resources you need every step of the way. Before the opening of classes, orientations and preparations were conducted to help ensure a smooth transition. These changes are part of our continuous efforts to improve and strengthen the education system. As we begin the year, the first week will focus on learner orientation, health assessments, and other opening activities to help set a positive tone for the months ahead.

To our learners, know that every adjustment being made is centered on your welfare and success. The Department aims to create a learning environment where you can focus more on your studies with fewer interruptions and distractions. We want your learning experiences to be more engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable. Above all, we want to provide you with the best opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve your dreams.
