𝗦𝗧. 𝗝𝗢𝗛𝗡 𝗣𝗔𝗨𝗟 𝗜𝗜 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗢 — The College of Teacher Education (CTE) showcased dominance at the 3rd Academic Olympics held yesterday, March 11, 2026, securing a series of top-tier awards across various academic and literary events.

In the highly competitive academic categories, CTE swept the top spots. Febbie U. Pelaez claimed the Champion title in the Research Paper Presentation, while Jose Jhun B. Awe secured 5th Runner-Up. In the Research Poster Presentation, Aime Galicia and Ronalyn Catubig earned the 1st and 2nd Runner-Up placements, respectively.

Meanwhile, Erika Villorejo emerged as the Champion in Essay Writing, while the Quiz Bee team, composed of Ryle Muana, Kimberly Liwanag, and Melquisedeck Rabanes, secured the Championship title.

The college also saw a double victory in the Spelling Bee, with Grenifer P. Silverio claiming Champion and Maria Ysabel L. Gacis earning 3rd Runner-Up.

The success extended to the creative and performing arts. An all-English major ensemble earned 1st Runner-Up in the Jazz Chant Competition with their powerful performance of “Peace Not War.” Additionally, Regie Tanggaro placed 4th Runner-Up in the Picture Analysis competition.

College officials attributed the successful campaign to the collective efforts of the Dean, Program Heads, faculty coaches, and student leaders. These achievements reflect the college's unwavering commitment to fostering excellence in both academic and creative fields.

This event is organized by the Cristina Foundation for Persons with Down Syndrome, Inc., dedicated to empowering individuals with Down Syndrome and promoting inclusion, awareness, and community support.

The walk will begin at 𝟲:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 from Freedom Park, passing along C. Bangoy and Palma Gil Streets, and will conclude at People’s Park for a brief fellowship. This activity brings together educators, students, professionals, advocates, and community members in solidarity—walking not only to raise awareness, but also to affirm dignity, celebrate abilities, and strengthen our commitment to inclusivity.

As JPCEANS, let us stand together in support of this cause. The College of Teacher Education (CTE) demonstrated its mastery of the arts at the Kasikas Fest 2026 on February 11, 2026, at St. John Paul II College of Davao.

𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐀. 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐨 spearheaded the department's success by clinching the title of 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓲𝓸𝓷 in Essay Writing. The winning streak continued in the visual arts, with 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦 𝐂𝐆 𝐆. 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚 capturing 3𝓻𝓭 𝓟𝓵𝓪𝓬𝓮 in Photography, while the Canvas Painting trio of 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞, and 𝐑𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞 secured a commendable 7𝓽𝓱-𝓹𝓵𝓪𝓬𝓮 finish for their intricate composition.

CTEan spirit went on the main stage when Alibang Band, consisting of 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥, 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐧 𝐄𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬, 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐚, 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠-𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐧, 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨, and 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬, secured 4𝓽𝓱 𝓹𝓵𝓪𝓬𝓮 and the 𝓑𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓘𝓷𝓽𝓻𝓸𝓭𝓾𝓬𝓽𝓸𝓻𝔂 𝓥𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓸 in a stakes-based musical arena. Such wins indicate what the college has already invested in holistic development, and that SJPIICD's future teachers are as creatively endowed as they are academically motivated.

𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐉𝐏𝟐𝐂𝐃 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐭

𝑺𝒐𝒑𝒉𝒊𝒂 𝑲𝒓𝒚𝒔𝒔 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒂 of the 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 made a splash at the entrance of the world of pageantry when she was crowned 𝟏𝒔𝒕 𝑹𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝑼𝒑 in the coronation night of the Ms. SJPIICD 2026. In addition to the sash and the crown, Sophia used her first pageant performance to advance a critical goal: 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐈𝐈 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 (𝐒𝐉𝐏𝟐𝐂𝐃).

During the competition, Alexandrova, who also won the Best in Academics Promotion Award, raised an outcry for SJP2CD's expansion in the Davao Region and emphasized that affordable, quality education is vital to creating life-changing opportunities in Davao City and beyond.
