HEALTH ADVISORY: DENGUE PREVENTION AND AWARENESS
Greetings to our dear students, parents, faculty, staff, and members of the school community!
As the rainy season begins, we would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant against dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease that commonly increases during this time of the year. Stagnant water from frequent rains can serve as breeding sites for mosquitoes, making it important for all of us to work together in preventing its spread.
We encourage everyone to be informed about dengue, its signs and symptoms, and the necessary preventive measures that can help protect ourselves, our families, and our community.
Common Signs and Symptoms of Dengue:
• High fever
• Severe headache
• Pain behind the eyes
• Muscle and joint pains
• Nausea and vomiting
• Skin rashes
• Unusual bleeding such as nosebleeds or bleeding gums
• Extreme fatigue or weakness
Preventive Measures:
• Regularly inspect and eliminate stagnant water in and around homes and school premises.
• Cover water containers and keep surroundings clean.
• Wear protective clothing such as long sleeves and long pants when possible.
• Use mosquito repellents and mosquito nets, especially during peak mosquito activity hours.
• Maintain proper waste disposal and environmental sanitation.
(you may also refer to the charts attached below for more info)
Parents and guardians are advised to closely monitor their children for any symptoms of dengue. If your child develops fever or any of the symptoms mentioned above, please seek medical consultation promptly and inform the school accordingly.
Stay informed. Stay protected.
Thank you,
Nurse Mavic
