The qualifying examination will be next week, June 28, 2026.

One hundred and twenty-eight years ago, on this very day, a flag was raised beneath the skies of Kawit, symbolizing more than a glorious victory, but as a declaration that people long deprived of their voices had finally claimed the right to shape their own future.

Today, as we commemorate the 128th Philippine Independence Day, we honor the courage of those who fought, sacrificed, and gave their lives so that generations after them could live in freedom. Their bravery did more than secure our sovereignty—it paved the way for progress, innovation, education, and the countless opportunities that Filipinos enjoy today.

As scholars, future professionals, and nation-builders, may we recognize that the freedom we enjoy today carries with it a greater purpose—to serve, to lead, and to create meaningful change. For the future of our country will not be built by history alone, but by Filipinos who choose every day to honor that history through excellence, integrity, and service. May we continue to carry forward the legacy of those who came before us—not only by remembering their sacrifices, but by becoming worthy of them.

On June 8, 2026, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Mindanao, causing widespread damage and leaving numerous families in a state of uncertainty.

While the earthquake was felt across Mindanao, some of the heaviest burdens now rest on the shoulders of families in Davao Occidental. As communities begin the long and difficult process of recovery, many remain in urgent need of assistance, support, and hope.

In response, the DOST Organization of the Nation's Scholars for Science and Education (DOST-ONSSE) launches this donation drive to support affected families in Davao Occidental. More than a donation drive, this initiative is a testament to the values of Social Responsibility and Servant Leadership—standing with Davao Occidental, mobilizing support, and serving those who need it most.

Every donation, no matter the amount, can help provide immediate relief and bring communities one step closer to recovery. Together, let us transform compassion into action and embody the true spirit of bayanihan.

Two (2) DOST-SEI scholars from the University of Mindanao, namely Karen Ritz M. Custodio and Kirsten John R. Saut, successfully passed the May 2026 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination, bringing pride and honor to the university and the DOST scholar community.

Their achievement reflects the values of excellence, perseverance, and dedication that UM Agilas continuously upholds. Through years of hard work, discipline, and commitment to their chosen field, they have proven that determination truly leads to success.

The UM Agilas family proudly celebrates this remarkable milestone and extends its warmest congratulations to our newly licensed chemical engineers.
