LAAK, DAVAO DE ORO — On August 19, 2026, at about 3:20 PM, PMAJ EMELITO M LLEGO, Chief of Police of Laak Municipal Police Station, conducted a security and safety awareness lecture for the students of Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC)–Laak Extension.

The lecture focused on anti-illegal drugs, anti-bullying, and school safety and security, including a brief discussion on the recent shooting incident that transpired at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, which resulted in casualties among students and school personnel.

PMAJ Llego also reminded the students to remain vigilant and responsible, emphasizing the importance of immediately reporting suspicious persons, activities, or situations to school authorities and law enforcement authorities. Practical safety measures and appropriate actions to take in case of an emergency or untoward incident within the school premises were likewise discussed.

The activity forms part of the continuing efforts of Laak MPS to strengthen police-community partnership and enhance safety and security in schools, ensuring a secure and peaceful learning environment for students, teachers, and school personnel.

LAAK, DAVAO DE ORO — In line with its continuing commitment to strengthen school safety and emergency preparedness, personnel of Laak Municipal Police Station, led by PMAJ EMELITO M LLEGO, Chief of Police, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) under the supervision of Samuel C. Lacierda III, MDRRM Officer, conducted a Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) at Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC)–Laak Extension on August 19, 2026.

The activity was conducted to enhance the coordination, readiness, and response capabilities of participating agencies and stakeholders in addressing possible emergency situations within school premises.

The SIMEX also forms part of the proactive measures undertaken by Laak MPS in response to recent school-related security concerns, particularly the shooting incident that transpired at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, where students and school personnel were among those affected.

Through the exercise, participating personnel were given an opportunity to assess their preparedness, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and identify areas for improvement in emergency response and crisis management.

Laak MPS continues to work closely with schools, the LGU, and other stakeholders in ensuring a safe, secure, and resilient learning environment for students, faculty, and school personnel.

The recent Recognition Rites and 9th Commencement Exercises held at Davao de Oro State College in Compostela Valley celebrated the remarkable achievements of its students. The DDOSC Laak Extension Class had 63 students who received their Certificates in Agricultural Science, and 20 graduates were honored for their accomplishments. Cheers to more milestones ahead!

The community takes great pride in these students as they embark on their journeys, embodying the values of true DDOSCians. Special thanks are extended to the dedicated College President, Dr. Lilybeth Matunhay, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Glory Jean C. Altamera, as well as the Executive Committee, faculty, administrative staff, and the ever-loving and supportive parents who contributed to this milestone, reflecting the students' perseverance and passion for learning.

Special and heartfelt gratitude is expressed to Municipal Mayor Honeyboy Libuangan for providing the municipal bus, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for everyone attending the celebrations. The support from local leadership has been instrumental to the DDOSC family.
