The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) โ USeP Chapter successfully conducted an academic and professional enrichment seminar titled โBalance Beyond Books: Lead, Communicate, Excelโ last September 17, 2024, at the CIC Audio-Visual Room (AVR), University of Southeastern Philippines. The event gathered second-year, third-year, and fourth-year BS Accountancy students, aiming to strengthen not only their technical competence but also their leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills - essential qualities for the accounting profession.
The program commenced with an opening message from Dr. Enrico C. Yee Jr., CPA, LPT, Program Head of BS Accountancy, who emphasized the significance of continuous learning and holistic growth. He encouraged students to view professional development as a lifelong journey that extends beyond academic knowledge.
The first speaker, Mrs. Dari Jayne Espera-Solis, Channel Operations Executive of Nestlรฉ Philippines, Inc. and Head of AAA Activation Machine, Inc. โ Visayas and Mindanao, inspired the students by sharing her professional journey. She highlighted the crucial role of human resources in the accounting profession, the importance of effective communication, and the value of soft skills in advancing careers. Her engaging session concluded with an open forum, where students actively participated by raising questions and sharing reflections on the discussion.
The second speaker, Dr. Nikko Lara Caminade, CPA, Entrepreneur, and Immediate Past President of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Davao Chapter, offered valuable insights on facing challenges in the corporate world. He underscored the importance of setting non-negotiablesโparticularly in balancing academics, career, and personal relationships. Through his candid sharing of struggles and triumphs, he encouraged students to persevere and remain focused on their goals despite the obstacles.
Both sessions left a profound impact on the participants, equipping them with professional insights, practical strategies, and life lessons that extend beyond the classroom. The event reaffirmed JPIA-USePโs commitment to developing not only academically excellent students but also well-rounded future professionals who can lead, communicate, and excel in diverse fields.

The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) Program of the College of Business Administration (CBA), University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), successfully conducted its Academic Enrichment Seminar on September 13, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM at CBA Building, USeP Obrero.
The event proudly featured Ms. Dyan Nicole Francisco, MBA, CPA, CMAโa distinguished lecturer and professional reviewer affiliated with the University of Santo Tomas (UST), De La Salle University (DLSU), University of Makati (UMAK), and the REO Review Center. This seminar marked her first lecture engagement at USeP, where she shared her expertise on Strategic Cost Management and Financial Management, covering key topics such as Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis, Absorption and Variable Costing, and Financial Statement Analysis.
Ms. Franciscoโs dynamic teaching approach combined academic rigor with practical insights, giving students valuable exposure to the intensive training they can expect in CPA review centers. To keep the sessions lively and engaging, she delighted participants with raffle drawsโgiving away books, cash prizes, and chocolates.
Participants included 2nd and 3rd year BSA students, who expressed their appreciation for the rare opportunity to learn from a lecturer affiliated with some of the countryโs top universities. Many affirmed that the seminar broadened their perspective on the accounting profession and inspired them to strive for excellence in their studies.
In his closing remarks, BSA Program Head Dr. Enrico C. Yee, Jr., CPA, LPT underscored the importance of such activities in reinforcing the academic formation of USeP Accountancy students. He encouraged everyone to โkeep learning, and keep strivingโ as they continue their journey toward becoming competent, future-ready professionals.

Held on July 17, 2025 at the PICPA Davao Office as part of the Annual Accountancy Week (July 13โ19), the competition gathered the best and brightest accountancy students from across the region under the theme โAction with Impact.โ
USePโs Level 1 โ Basic Accounting Cup team delivered an outstanding performance, answering every question flawlessly and securing the top spot among tough contenders.

The University of Southeastern Philippines College of Business Administration (๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐) proudly celebrated a historic milestone during the Testimonial Dinner and Meeting with CPA board exam Passers on June 13, 2025, at Pinnacle Hotel and Suites. The event, themed โCelebrating Excellence: A Tribute to Our First Batch of CPA Board Exam Passers,โ was a heartfelt recognition of the perseverance, dedication, and outstanding achievements of the pioneering BS Accountancy graduates who successfully passed the May 2025 CPA Licensure Examination.
The program began with a warm welcome and an inspirational message from Dr. Edeliza S. Gonzales, Dean of the College of Business Administration (CBA), followed by the introduction of CPA board passers by Dr. Enrico C. Yee, BS Accountancy Program Head. A special message was delivered by USeP's immediate past president, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, under whose leadership the BS Accountancy program was launched.
University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, SUC President IV, extended his heartfelt congratulations and expressed unwavering support for the new CPAs. Dr. Rosfe Corlae D. Badoy, Public Affairs Division (PAD) director and CBA faculty member, introduced the esteemed guest speaker, Atty. Rolland C. Pondoc, former Commission on Audit (COA) Commissioner and National President of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), who delivered an inspiring talk. He reminded the passers that conquering the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination (CPALE)โone of the countryโs toughest licensure examsโis a testament to their resilience and determination.
A highlight of the evening was the testimonial messages from the newly certified CPAs. Mr. Axelvhox D. Ompod, a Top 6 CPALE passer, shared the challenges he faced in completing the four-year course. A proud โIskolar ng Bayan,โ he emphasized that simply passing the exam was already a blessingโbut ranking in the top 10 was a dream come true. Meanwhile, Ms. Lyle Joyce M. Saturinas, also a Top 6 CPALE passer, recounted her unexpected journey into accountancy. Initially planning to pursue a different course, a conversation with friends led her to apply for a USeP scholarship. Graduating Summa Cum Laude and now ranking among the topnotchers, she reflected on how fate guided her to the right courseโand the right place.
On the other hand, Ms. Jyreen Fabiah O. Santillan, among the first three graduates of the BSA program, took pride in contributing to USePโs legacy. Passing the exam on her first attempt, she regarded it as both an honor and a benchmark of excellence for future students to emulate and be inspired by.
The evening was not just a celebration of success but also a moment of inspiration. The heartfelt stories of perseverance and triumph deeply resonated with the audience, particularly with current and future students aspiring to follow in their footsteps. Beyond recognition, the event fostered camaraderie and connection, providing a platform for new CPAs to engage with faculty members, administrators, and fellow studentsโfurther strengthening the accounting community within USeP.

A day of growth, competition, and reflection took place at the CBA Building Financial Laboratory, University of Southeastern Philippines, Obrero Campus, Davao City, on February 28, 2025.
The event commenced with an opening remarks led by JPIA Adviser and BSA Program Head, Dr. Enrico C. Yee Jr., CPA, setting the tone for the day's proceedings.
This was followed by an engaging seminar on Steward Leadership for future accountants, led by esteemed guest speakers Mr. Edward Nino P. Puyod, Atty. Dan Drebb Eusalan, CPA, Ms. Marianne May Loquias, and Mr. Koji Jose D. Shibazaki. The session was presented by The Ayala Young Leaders AlumniโMadayaw Chapter, in collaboration with JCI Durian City and USeP-JPIA. They delved into embracing a growth mindset and shared valuable insights and approaches to applying steward leadership. The students were also reminded to uphold integrity, build the foundation of their values, and always return to their core principles.
Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students found the seminar particularly enlightening, gaining valuable insights into personal and academic growth.
Following the seminar, an exhilarating Accounting Quiz Bowl featured a close competition between Group 7 and Group 4. Group 7 emerged victorious with a score of 41. The team was composed of Rucelle Bernat (2nd-year student), Ivan Efondo (1st-year student), and Daphnie Buenavista (1st-year student), showcasing their knowledge and teamwork in the challenging event.
The convention concluded on a high note with a pictorial session of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Program.
In a crescendo of enthusiasm and determination, the second semestral convention came to a close. As the students of the BSA program depart, they do so with renewed vigor and confidence, ready to conquer the challenges ahead and emerge victorious in their academic journey.

The College of Business Administration (CBA) and Junior Philippine Institute of Accountant (JPIA) โ USeP Chapter, hosted the โSteward Leadership for Future Accountantsโ Seminar conducted by the Ayala Young Leaders AlumniโMadayaw Chapter in partnership with JCI Durian City on February 28, 2025.
The event, attended by 90 JPIA members, aimed to inspire aspiring accountants by focusing on leadership and professional growth.
Dr. Enrico C. Yee, Jr., BS Accountancy Program Head, opened the seminar, emphasizing that accountancy is not just about numbers but also integrity, decision-making, and leadership. He urged future accountants to develop critical thinking and adaptability skills needed to guide organizations ethically.
Resource speakers included Ayala Young Leaders alumni and accounting professionals. Mr. Koji Kabasaki, JCI Durian City VP for Individual Development, shared insights on steward leadership, saying, โSteward leadership is about creating a collective better future through development opportunities.โ Atty. Dan Eusalan, a tax lawyer, and Mr. Edward Puyod, a businessman, discussed the challenges of the accounting profession, stressing the importance of upholding integrity, responsibility, and ethical decision-making.
Participants were encouraged to reflect on their values and purpose, with 3rd-year student and JPIA President Gilbert Lobo expressing his commitment to demonstrating trustworthiness and fairness in his leadership role.
The seminar also offered valuable networking opportunities, allowing students to connect with industry professionals. The event highlighted the collective effort of Ayala Young Leaders Alumni, JCI Durian City, CBA, and the JPIA in nurturing future leaders in accounting and promoting ethical, transformative leadership.
