Soil is life.
Soil is defined as "a dynamic natural body on the earth's surface, composed of mineral and organic materials and living organisms, on which plants grow" (Brady, 1974, p. 617).
Agriculture relies on soil more than any other resource to produce the food that humans need to survive.
As important as it is, we must protect our soil from irreparable destruction. Farmers can achieve this by engaging in soil conservation techniques such as crop rotation, contour farming, zero tillage, mulching, and terrace farming, among others. By employing these methods of soil conservation, we can help prevent soil degradation while preserving the land's organic nutrients, thereby maintaining soil fertility to continue producing high-yield crops.
