PEMDAS is a rule that helps us remember the correct order to solve math expressions.
It stands for:
P – Parentheses
Do operations inside ( ) first.
Example:
(2 + 3) × 4 = 5 × 4 = 20
E – Exponents
Solve powers or square roots next.
Example:
2² + 3 = 4 + 3 = 7
MD – Multiplication and Division
Do these from left to right, whichever comes first.
Example:
8 ÷ 2 × 3 = 4 × 3 = 12
AS – Addition and Subtraction
Do these from left to right, whichever comes first.
Example:
10 - 2 + 5 = 8 + 5 = 13
Example using PEMDAS:
Solve:
3 + 6 × (5 + 4) ÷ 3²
Step-by-step:
Parentheses: (5 + 4) = 9
Exponents: 3² = 9
Multiplication/Division: 6 × 9 ÷ 9 = 54 ÷ 9 = 6
Addition: 3 + 6 = 9
✅ Final Answer: 9

The expression ∞ − ∞ is undefined in mathematics.
Even though it seems like subtracting two infinities should cancel out, infinity is not a regular number—it's a concept. Depending on the context, ∞ − ∞ could lead to:
0
∞
−∞
Or any finite number
Because of these multiple possibilities, mathematicians say:
∞ − ∞ is _________________?
