Titogop Elementary School proudly celebrated Indigenous Peoples (IP) Day on August 10, 2026, with a meaningful short program held immediately after the flag ceremony. The celebration highlighted the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and identity of Indigenous Peoples, while recognizing the important role of Indigenous communities in promoting life, health, and well-being.
The celebration centered on the theme, โHonouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being,โ which emphasizes the valuable contribution of Indigenous midwives in caring for mothers, babies, and families and in preserving traditional knowledge passed down through generations.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the colorful presentation of the learners wearing their traditional Indigenous attire. Their vibrant clothing beautifully reflected the diversity, artistry, and cultural pride of the Indigenous community. Through their attire, the learners demonstrated that culture and tradition remain an important part of their identity and should be valued and preserved.
The short program also featured a message from the school's beloved School Head, Sir Michael Sol S. Binghay, who is himself an Indigenous Person. His message encouraged the learners to be proud of their cultural roots, respect their traditions, and appreciate the wisdom and practices of their ancestors. He also reminded everyone that preserving Indigenous culture is a shared responsibility and that young learners play an important role in carrying these traditions into the future.
The simple yet meaningful celebration brought the school community together in honoring Indigenous identity, culture, and heritage. It served as a reminder that every tradition, story, and practice is part of a valuable cultural legacy that deserves respect and recognition.
