CANDEV speech and language therapist Dav Quilantang and psychologist/reading specialist Brenndon Garino partnered with Teacher Marilyn Peña of SPED Bangkal (DCSNICC) to lead an in-service training for Agusan del Sur DepEd SNED and Reading coordinators and teachers. The training aimed to strengthen local efforts in supporting students at risk for reading failure.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM ROUTINE: SPOTTING THE SIGNS THAT MATTER

Teacher Mai participated in the DCHS-CPG INSET yesterday, preparing for the upcoming school year. The session focused on recognizing developmental red flags, documentation, and collaboration with parents and professionals. Recognizing these signs is pivotal in ensuring each child receives the necessary support to thrive.

MGA IMPORTANTENG TANONG SA INYONG SPECIALIST KAPAG NAGPAPA-TEST

BEFORE TESTING
✅Anu-anong mga dokumento ang kailangang dalhin during the test?
✅Kakailangin pa ba ng ibang assessment katulad ng hearing test, OT o speech-language o psychological evaulation, depende sa resulta?
✅Ano ang gagawin kapag ang child ay naging dysregulated, natakot o ayaw mag-cooperate during the test?
✅Ilang oras o sessions ang testing?
✅Ano ang gagawin kapag masyadong matagal nag-intay para sa testing?

AFTER TESTING
✅Nameet ba ng anak ko ang criteria for autism o iba pang developmental conditions or kailangan pa ng more observation o testing?
✅Anu-ano yung na-observe ninyo na tumugma sa symptoms ng diagnosis?
✅Ano yung pinakamahalagang ma-address na pangangailangan sa loob ng 3 months?
✅Ano ang uunahin- OT, ABA, speech, parent coaching, school support, or may iba pa?
✅May mga medical o co-occuring concerns ba na kailangang i-monitor katulad ng sleep, feeding, tantrums, safety, seizure, anxiety, hyperactivity, at iba pa?
✅Ilang beses ang mga therapy nya kada linggo? Ano yung realistic na magawa sa bahay every day?
✅Ano ang sasabihin ko sa teacher o school ng anak ko?
✅Paano ko malalaman na nag-iimprove na ang anak ko sa therapy?

AT PINAKA-IMPORTANTE:
🔘Ano po ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno ang makakatulong sa pagpapatherapy o retest ng anak ko?
🔘Ano ang proseso ng pagkuha ng PWD ID?
🔘Ano ang mga accommodations na dapat ibigay ng school para sa anak ko?
🔘Anong program o curriculum ang nababagay para sa anak ko? (Full SPED ba, inclusive education, regular school, home school, etc). Saan ko ito mahahanap?
🔘Anu-ano ang kailangan kong tulong bilang magulang na nagpapalaki ng isang anak na may disability?
