In anticipation of possible aftershocks and pending the completion of ongoing structural assessments, government offices in Davao City, including local government offices and national government agencies, shall adopt a work-from-home arrangement tomorrow, June 9, 2026, EXCEPT for offices providing safety and security, health, sanitation, traffic management, social services, and disaster and emergency response services.

The private sector is encouraged to adopt similar arrangements to ensure the welfare and safety of their employees.

Face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions shall remain suspended tomorrow, June 9, 2026, pending the completion of safety inspections.

Educational institutions are encouraged to adopt online or distance learning modalities to ensure the welfare and safety of their students and personnel.

Due to the recent earthquake experienced in Davao City, classes at all levels, both public and private institutions, and work in all local and national government offices within the city are hereby suspended effective immediately, today, June 8, 2026.

Private offices and institutions are likewise encouraged to do the same to ensure the welfare and safety of their employees .

A Visit Worth Remembering:
DepEd Central Office Monitoring Team’s Consultative Visit to Davao City Special School

The Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office Monitoring Team, headed by Atty. Marcelino Veloso, Assistant Secretary (ASEC), conducted a Consultative Visit at Davao City Special School to strengthen collaboration and support for inclusive education.
Atty. Veloso was warmly welcomed by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Reynante A. Solitario, CESO V, Protocol Officer Dr. Jeson Reyes, PSDS-SNED Dr. Johnito Galan, together with School Principal Maria Ligaya R. Romero, and Assistant to the Principal Sanny Francis T. Peña, alongside the school’s MasterTeachers and Coordinators from various learning programs.
The visit featured a consultative meeting with teachers, highlighting inclusion, teamwork, innovation, and school readiness. The school was also graced with approximately 20 desktop computers to enhance its ICT program for learners, ensuring improved access to digital learning opportunities.
This consultative engagement truly stands as a visit worth remembering, underscoring DepEd’s commitment to partnerships, innovation, and readiness for the coming academic year.

LITERACY SUPPORT & READING MATERIALS

While parents completed their children's enrolment, our young learners embarked on a different journey - one filled with stories, imagination and discovery through our Brigada Pagbasa Program at the gym.

Every page turned is a step closer to a brighter future. As we prepare our school for another meaningful year, we also nurture a love for reading, proving that learning never stops—even on enrolment day!
