DAVAO CITY — Generoso Elementary School successfully conducted its School Governing Council (SGC) Orientation and Reorganization Meeting on September 25, 2026, at the School Principal’s Office, reaffirming the school’s commitment to shared governance and meaningful stakeholder participation.

Dr. June Elias V. Patalinghug, School Principal, reoriented the SGC members and officers on their roles, functions, and responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of active collaboration and collective responsibility in supporting the school’s programs, projects, and initiatives.

LAYAG Takes Flight Beyond Generoso: Signature School Brand Inspires Benchmarking with General Roxas North District

SAILING FORWARD— Generoso Elementary School (GES) welcomed school heads from the General Roxas North District of the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Davao City for a benchmarking activity focused on the school’s programs, practices, and distinctive school brand, LAYAG Generoso.

The benchmarking engagement was led by Brian B. Banzon, Schools District In-Charge of General Roxas North District, who, together with the school heads, explored the initiatives of Generoso Elementary School and gained insights into how the school develops and organizes its programs under a unified institutional identity.

Generoso Elementary School takes pride in being recognized for its continuing efforts to build a strong and meaningful school identity through LAYAG Generoso—a signature school brand designed to serve as a common thread connecting the school’s various programs, projects, activities, and initiatives.

During the engagement, June Elias V. Patalinghug, School Principal, presented LAYAG as the school’s mother program, serving as the central anchor that provides direction and coherence to the different programs of the school.

Patalinghug explained that LAYAG serves as an umbrella framework through which the school’s initiatives are aligned toward shared goals and aspirations. More than a name or branding concept, LAYAG reflects the school’s collective commitment to purposeful action, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Generoso ES, Parents Strengthen Partnership for ARAL Reading Program

DAVAO CITY, August 27, 2026 — Generoso Elementary School took an important step toward strengthening learners’ reading skills as it conducted the ARAL Reading Program 2026 Orientation and Book Unveiling.

The activity gathered the parents and guardians of ARAL beneficiaries, ARAL Tutors, and school personnel to build a shared understanding of the program and, more importantly, to strengthen their partnership in helping learners improve their reading skills.

The program started with a prayer and the Philippine National Anthem presented through audio-visual presentations, followed by an energizer led by Ana Marie G. Mejorada, Teacher II. June Elias V. Patalinghug, EdD, delivered the opening remarks and highlighted the importance of working together to provide learners with the support they need.

One of the highlights of the activity was the unveiling of the ARAL reading books and learning materials. The resources are intended to provide tutors with appropriate materials that can make reading sessions more engaging, meaningful, and responsive to learners’ needs.

During the orientation, Benito B. Lumanao, Jr., Master Teacher II, discussed the key points of the ARAL Reading Program 2026, including the roles of tutors, learner support, use of reading materials, documentation, and monitoring of learners’ progress.

A particularly meaningful moment was the Pledge of Commitment, where parents and guardians, together with the teachers and ARAL Tutors, expressed their commitment to work hand in hand in supporting the learners. The pledge reflected a simple but powerful message: helping children learn to read is a shared responsibility between the school and the home.

The activity ended with the closing remarks of Jennifer G. Sepe, Reading and GRUBB Focal Person, who encouraged everyone to remain patient, consistent, and committed in guiding the learners throughout their ARAL journey.

Guided Reading Through Book Boxes: A Blessed Partnership with AFFLIP

August 26, 2026 — The school community was truly blessed to welcome the support of the Australian Foundation for Fostering Learning in the Philippines (AFFLIP) through the Guided Reading Using Book Boxes Orientation. The meaningful activity brought together parents and teachers from Grades 2 to 6 in a shared commitment to strengthening learners' reading skills and fostering a genuine love for books.

The school is deeply grateful to AFFLIP for providing the Book Box reading kits, which will serve as valuable resources in developing learners' reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, confidence, and appreciation for reading. The Grade 2 teachers, together with the parents, warmly welcomed the kits and expressed their gratitude for this generous support.

The orientation was actively participated in by parents from Grades 2 to 6, together with their teachers, who are committed to working hand in hand in helping every learner become a confident and independent reader. The activity provided parents and teachers with valuable guidance on how the Book Boxes can be effectively used to support children's reading development both in school and at home.

More than just a collection of books, the Book Boxes represent an opportunity to strengthen the partnership among the school, teachers, and families. Through regular and meaningful reading activities, teachers and parents can work together in nurturing children's literacy skills and developing a lasting love for learning.

Makulay na Pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika 2026

Generoso Elementary School, Davao City — Agosto 25, 2026. Naging masaya at makabuluhan ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika 2026 sa Generoso Elementary School, Talomo East District, na may temang “Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon.”

Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang, isinagawa ang iba’t ibang Classroom-Based Competitions na naglalayong malinang ang talento at pagmamahal ng mga mag-aaral sa wikang Filipino.

Para sa Grade 1, tampok ang Pagbigkas ng Tula, habang Muling Pagkukuwento naman ang gawain ng Grade 2. Sa Grade 3, isinagawa ang Interpretatibong Pagbasa. Para naman sa Grade 4, ipinamalas ng mga mag-aaral ang kanilang talento sa Isahang Awit, habang ang Grade 5 ay nakilahok sa Pagsulat ng Sanaysay. Sa Grade 6, naging tampok ang Pagsulat ng Slogan.

Naging bahagi rin ng selebrasyon ang mga gawaing pansining tulad ng Pagkulay ng Watwat at Sagisag ng Pilipinas, Pagguhit ng Sagisag ng Pilipinas, Pagguhit ng Poster, at Pagsulat ng Slogan.

Higit na naging masaya ang pagdiriwang nang magdala rin ang mga bata ng iba’t ibang kakaning Pilipino na kanilang pinagsaluhan. Naging pagkakataon ito upang maipakita ang kulturang Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng pagkaing tradisyonal at mapalalim ang diwa ng pagbabahagi, pagkakaisa, at pagkakaibigan.

STRENGTHENING READING INSTRUCTION THROUGH THE GRUBB PROGRAM

On August 19, 2026, Generoso Elementary School conducted the GRUBB Orientation, welcoming the Grade 2 teachers who will take part in the implementation of Guided Reading through the use of GRUBB Book Boxes.

The school is deeply grateful to the Australian Foundation for Fostering Learning in the Philippines (AFFLP) for its continued support and for blessing Generoso Elementary School with another complete book box. This valuable resource will further strengthen the school’s reading program and provide learners with meaningful opportunities to enhance their reading skills and comprehension.

The orientation was spearheaded by the school’s GRUBB Focal Person, Jennifer G. Sepe, whose dedication and commitment continue to contribute to the successful implementation of the program.

GENEROSO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WELCOMES NEW PTA LEADERSHIP, CELEBRATES CONTINUING PARTNERSHIP

Generoso Elementary School, Talomo East District, Davao City — Generoso Elementary School welcomed its newly elected School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) officers during a Turnover and Oathtaking Ceremony held on August 7, highlighting the school’s continuing commitment to strong school-family-community partnership and learner-centered education.

School Principal June Elias V. Patalinghug, EdD, in his opening message, emphasized that education is a shared responsibility that cannot be achieved by the school alone. He called on parents, teachers, community leaders, and stakeholders to work together in creating a supportive environment that promotes the welfare, growth, and success of every learner. The school also recognized outgoing PTA officers Geraldine Espino and Jenifer Villarino for their dedication and valuable contributions to strengthening parent-school collaboration.

Leading the new PTA leadership are Leah Buragay Gamorot, President, and Emilio Candia, Vice President, with Sheila Muriel Sison and Lorilei Galinato, Secretaries; Rica Jane Durante, Treasurer; Lorena Magdipig, Auditor; Sweete Lei Sabido, Public Information Officer; and Marilyn Gedraga and Morena Bontia, Business Managers. Board Members are Crisanto Basan, Rachel Mae Rana, Laiza Dolino, and Ma’am Valiente.

The newly elected officers formally assumed their responsibilities through an oath-taking ceremony administered by Barangay Kagawad Marivic Barcenas, who encouraged the new leaders to serve with sincerity, dedication, and accountability. In her message, PTA President Leah Buragay Gamorot expressed gratitude for the trust given to the new officers and pledged to strengthen cooperation among the school, parents, and community partners, emphasizing that the PTA serves as an important bridge in supporting learners.
