ABES receives Healthy Settings Award 2026
A. Bonifacio Elementary School proudly received the Healthy Settings Award during the Healthy Settings Enablers’ Recognition 2026 held on September 4, 2026, at The Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases, Davao City.
The recognition honors ABES for its implementation of the Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd–Healthy Learning Institutions (OKD-HLI) Program, which earned a Very Satisfactory rating for the 2025 program implementation.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Juvelyn Rongcales, Talomo East District Nurse, and the Division OKD-HLI Focals, spearheaded by Dr. Rachelle Jean S. Lacurom, for their invaluable guidance and support.

ABES campus journalist, nag-Top 4 sa Pagsulat ng Kolum

DAVAO CITY — Nakibahagi ang A. Bonifacio Elementary School (ABES) sa Davao City Campus Journalism Academy Year 4 na isinagawa sa Crossing Bayabas National High School noong Agosto 8–9, 2026, bilang paghahanda para sa nalalapit na Division Schools Press Conference.

Siyam na campus journalists (CJs) mula sa ABES ang lumahok sa iba’t ibang indibidwal na patimpalak, kabilang sina Leapril Badal, Angeluz Toledo, Kayrah Nicole Quintanilla, Rhaysien Dennise Amador, Rafael John Ang, Xiamara Pearl Jorolan, Choi Lee Madanlo, Jamley Zane Alba, at Princess Thea Gentilizo.

Namukod-tangi naman si Angeluz Toledo matapos makamit ang Top 4 sa Pagsulat ng Kolum, na nagbigay ng karangalan sa ABES sa naturang paligsahan.

Sa pamamagitan ng kanilang pakikilahok, ipinakita ng siyam na campus journalists ng ABES ang kanilang husay, dedikasyon, at tapang sa larangan ng pamamahayag.

Ang kanilang karanasan sa akademya ay nagsilbing mahalagang paghahanda upang higit pang mapaunlad ang kanilang kasanayan sa pagsulat, pagbabalita, at iba pang anyo ng campus journalism.

Sa tagumpay ni Toledo at sa aktibong pakikilahok ng buong delegasyon, patuloy na ipinagmamalaki ng A. Bonifacio Elementary School ang talento at potensiyal ng mga batang mamamahayag nito.

Line 2 clinches boys' taekwondo title; Line 3 tops girls' division in Talomo East District Meet

DAVAO CITY – Line 2, represented by A. Bonifacio Elementary School and Generoso Elementary School, won the boys' taekwondo championship, while Line 3, represented by Doña Soledad Dolor Elementary School and Dr. Jovito S. Francisco Elementary School, claimed the girls' title in the Talomo East District Meet 2026 held on August 25, 2026 at the A. Bonifacio Elementary School Gym.
In the boys' division, Line 1, represented by Leon Garcia Elementary School, placed second, while Line 3, represented by Doña Soledad Dolor Elementary School, finished third.
In the girls' division, Line 2, represented by A. Bonifacio Elementary School, secured the silver medal, while Line 1, represented by Leon Garcia Elementary School, earned the bronze medal.
The taekwondo competition was one of the events in the Talomo East District Meet 2026, bringing together elementary athletes from participating schools to compete for district honors and qualification to UNIT MEET.

Every school year begins with new faces, new dreams, and new opportunities. Yet every once in a while, a chapter closes—not with sadness alone, but with deep gratitude for lives that have shaped countless others.
This year, the A. Bonifacio Elementary School family bids farewell to six dedicated educators—five who have reached the milestone of retirement and one who has chosen a new journey through resignation.
For years, they faithfully served the school with passion, commitment, and compassion, touching the lives of countless learners and inspiring fellow educators. Their lessons extended beyond the classroom, shaping character, nurturing dreams, and leaving a legacy that will continue for generations.

More than a visit: Pakig-Ambit 2026 inspires A. Bonifacio Elementary School
DAVAO CITY, July 17, 2026 — A. Bonifacio Elementary School hosted Pakig-Ambit 2026, a DepEd Davao City Division initiative that provides monitoring and technical assistance to strengthen school governance and support the effective implementation of the Revised K to 12 Curriculum.
The activity was led by Gaelbert S. Banluta, Division ICT Focal Person, and Mary Law M. Vilbar, PSDS of Malabog District. The event became even more special with the surprise visit of Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Reynante A. Solitario, CESO VI, accompanied by Talomo East PSDS Marilyn L. Marcelo and Davao Central PSDS Dr. Jean Fe A. Colango.
A touching highlight of the event was the surprise serenade by Lyren Calob, a Grade 4 learner from the Special Needs Education (SNED) program, who performed "In My Dreams" by REO Speedwagon. The performance brought smiles and applause from the guests, adding warmth to an event filled with fun, meaningful interactions, and heartwarming laughter. Before concluding the visit, Dr. Solitario commended the school's efforts with the encouraging words, "Good job."
The A. Bonifacio Elementary School community expresses its sincere gratitude to the visiting Division officials, especially Dr. Solitario, PSDS Marilyn L. Marcelo, Gaelbert S. Banluta, and Mary Law M. Vilbar, for their guidance and support. The school also extends its appreciation to School Head Leopoldo C. With powerful beats, synchronized movements, and outstanding musicality, the ABES Drum and Lyre Corps emerged as the **Champion** during the Araw ng Barangay Talomo Drum and Lyre Contest.

The group also earned the coveted **Best in Music** award, impressing judges and spectators with their dynamic performance and discipline on the field.

The victory reflects the dedication and teamwork of the performers, trainers, school officials, and supportive parents who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

The achievement brought pride and honor to the entire ABES community as the Drum and Lyre Corps once again showcased excellence, talent, and school spirit.

Fresh from his graduation at A. Bonifacio Elementary School, young achiever Raine Andrei C. Bayer has once again brought pride to his alma mater after securing the Top 1 rank in the highly competitive Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) Admission Process for School Year 2026–2027.
The Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) program is known for its rigorous screening, often requiring strong academic performance and competitive examination results, making Bayer’s achievement even more remarkable. (Sanhs)
Bayer’s outstanding performance reflects not only his academic excellence but also his dedication and passion for learning. His recent graduation from A. Bonifacio Elementary School marked the beginning of a new journey—one that now leads him to a prestigious science-oriented program where he is expected to further hone his skills.

Numbers, Dreams, and Determination: The Story of Raine Andrei

In the halls of A. Bonifacio Elementary School, where young dreams quietly take shape, one name now echoes with promise—Raine Andrei C. Bayer.
For Raine, numbers are not merely lessons; they are challenges waiting to be conquered. This passion carried him to the National Rapid Math Contest on February 21, 2026, where his speed, focus, and precision earned him a place among the winners—a moment that marked not just victory, but purpose.
Yet his journey did not end there.
With determination as his guide, Raine faced the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) National Competitive Examination (NCE) for School Year 2026–2027—and emerged a qualifier, opening doors to a future shaped by science and excellence.
As he took the stage for his Grade 6 Graduation, he did so with High Honors, a symbol of years of quiet perseverance and unwavering commitment.
More than medals and recognition, Raine’s story is one of grit and growing dreams—a reminder that even the simplest beginnings can lead to extraordinary heights.

Brigada Conquest

On December 3, 2025, the vibrant halls of The Ritz Hotel, Garden Oases in Porras St., Bo. Obrero, Davao City, became a venue of celebration as education leaders and partners gathered for the 2025 Division Stakeholders’ Convergence. Among the highlights of the event was the recognition of A. Bonifacio Elementary School (ABES), awarded as the Brigada Eskwela ’25 Best Implementing School – Talomo East District, Medium School Category.

Represented by Carmela G. Bandayanon, the School Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, alongside Principal Leopoldo C. Cadeña, Jr. and Talomo East PSDS Marilyn L. Marcelo, ABES proudly accepted the award, which symbolized the school’s dedication to community collaboration, continuous improvement, and learner-centered initiatives.

In a brief interview, Bandayanon expressed her gratitude and reflected on the school’s journey:
“This award is a testament not only to the school but to the entire community,” Bandayanon shared. “Every coat of paint, every repaired facility, every shared resource—lahat iyon galing sa malasakit. Our partners, from internal to external stakeholders, worked hand in hand to create a safe and nurturing learning environment. We are honored and inspired to continue serving our learners.”

She also highlighted the role of strong leadership and district support in achieving this milestone. “Principal Cadeña and PSDS Marcelo have always encouraged us to push forward, innovate, and prioritize our learners’ needs. Their guidance has been invaluable.”

The award serves as a reminder that when a community comes together with shared purpose, meaningful change becomes possible. For ABES, this recognition is not the end—but a motivation to sustain and elevate its efforts for the benefit of every child who walks through its gates.

From ABES Classrooms to Mathematical Marvels

On November 27, 2025, the Division Mathematics Festival of Talents was held at Davao City Special School with the theme “Streaming Mathematical Intervention Literary Education,” otherwise known as S.M.I.L.E. The event was exceptional, showcasing both organization and enthusiasm among participants and facilitators.
The festival featured categories such as Number Race, Sudoku, Damath, Tower of Hanoi, and Battle of the Brains, each in its designated venue. These events encouraged students to display their remarkable mathematical abilities, resulting in a vibrant and highly competitive atmosphere.

Outstanding performers included Raine Andrei Bayer, 2nd in Battle of the Brains (Gr. 6 Level) under Nenita G. Caro (Coach); Jezhian Phen Respecia, 5th in Battle of the Brains (Gr. 3 Level) coached by Rowena L. Candog; and Hannah Sofia Carredo, Finalist in Damath (Gr. 6 Level), coached by Romeo N. Sollano. Their achievements highlighted the learners' talent, preparation, and perseverance.

The success of this event was made possible by the teamwork and guidance of committed leaders who ensured its seamless organization and meaningful ex*****on. ABES extends heartfelt gratitude to Talomo East PSDS Marilyn Marcelo for her steadfast leadership, District Math Coordinator Emalyn Molato for guiding the district delegation, ABES School Math Coordinator Nenita G. Caro for preparing and guiding the learners, and ABES School Principal Leopoldo C. Cadeña, Jr., whose support inspires teachers and learners to give their best.

Together, their efforts made the Mathematics Festival of Talents a successful and memorable event that celebrated mathematical skills while strengthening camaraderie, discipline, and the joy of learning. The Talomo East District contestants’ success was greatly strengthened by these leaders’ steady support, ensuring the learners were well-prepared, motivated, and inspired to perform at their best.
