The DACUN Community Extension Services Committee and A-PAD Philippines carried out an emergency response to the victims of Typhoon Paeng in Brgy Kuya, South Upi, Maguindanao on December 12, 2022. Relief packages of rice, canned goods, coffee, cooking oil, instant noodles, hygiene products, dental care kits, and laundry soaps were distributed to 500 families from the Teduray and Muslim communities. The LGU of South Upi, Maguindanao, the Municipal DRRM Office, together with the BFP South Upi, and the Brgy Kuya officials all cooperated and gave support for the cause.

Similar initiative was conducted in Brgy. Tran, Municipality of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat on November 10-11, 2022.

Earlier today, A-PAD Philippines visited the office of Hon. Reynalbert Insular, municipal mayor of South Upi, Mindanao in a courtesy call and offered copies of its newly published Evacuation Center Management Manual. The manual, produced in cooperation with the Ormoc City DRRM Office, provides additional guidelines focusing on ECM in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together with A-PAD PH Chief Program Coordinator Cris Binas in these pictures are Ms. Sitti Rogaiya L. Apadan, AVP of Community Extension and Outreach of University of Mindanao; Mr. Aldrin Dais, President of the Community Extension Committee of the Davao Association of Colleges and Universities; and Mr. Michael Bibaoco, Head of the Municipal DRRM Office of South Upi, Maguindanao.

Discussed during the same meeting are the upcoming relief delivery operations that A-PAD Philippines will be conducting in the municipality.

The DACUN through its Community Extension Services Committee in partnership with Asia Pacific Alliance Philippines, and in coordination with the LGU of South Upi, Maguindanao will conduct a relief operation on December 12-13, 2022 to those affected by Typhoon Paeng. Assessment of future disaster recovery phase plan will be held simultaneously.
