Wangan NHS Participates in 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

WNHS successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) onThursday, June 18, reinforcing the importance of disaster preparedness among students, teachers, and school personnel.

The activity began with an orientation on earthquake safety, followed by the sounding of the alarm signal.

Students and staff immediately performed the standard "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure before proceeding in an orderly manner to the designated evacuation areas.

The drill aimed to familiarize participants with proper earthquake response protocols and strengthen the school's readiness for emergencies.

The activity carried greater significance this year following the strong earthquake that shook parts of Mindanao on June 8, coinciding with the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027.

For many students and teachers, the recent earthquake served as a wake-up call on the importance of knowing the correct actions during disasters.

As a result, the earthquake drill provided a valuable opportunity to practice life-saving measures and assess the school's emergency response procedures.

School officials emphasized that disaster preparedness should be a shared responsibility among learners, educators, and the community.

Through regular drills and continuous awareness campaigns, Wangan National High School remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its stakeholders.

Please be informed that online/distance learning modalities will be adopted tomorrow, June 10, as the school has not yet completed the required assessment and clearance for occupancy.

In accordance with the directive that educational institutions which have not yet completed their assessments or have not been declared safe for occupancy shall continue to implement online or distance learning modalities, all classes will be conducted remotely until further notice.

We kindly ask for your cooperation and understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our learners.

Further updates regarding the resumption of face-to-face classes will be announced once the school facilities are declared safe for occupancy.

In accordance with the announcement of the City Government of Davao, face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private schools shall remain suspended tomorrow pending the completion of safety inspections.

To ensure the continuity of learning, classes will shift to Distance Learning Modality /Online Learning for all students.

Teachers and students are advised to maintain communication through their official class group chats, online platforms, and other established communication channels for instructions, learning activities, and class updates.

In anticipation of possible aftershocks and pending the completion of ongoing structural assessments, government offices in Davao City, including local government offices and national government agencies, shall adopt a work-from-home arrangement tomorrow, June 9, 2026, EXCEPT for offices providing safety and security, health, sanitation, traffic management, social services, and disaster and emergency response services.

The private sector is encouraged to adopt similar arrangements to ensure the welfare and safety of their employees.

Day 4 of Enrollment Continues at Wangan NHS; School Encourages Early Enrollment Before Class Opening

Wangan NHS continues its enrollment period on its fourth day today, with students steadily coming in to register for the upcoming school year.

School personnel reported a continuous but manageable flow of enrollees as preparations for the opening of classes progress.

According to school staff, the enrollment has remained consistent throughout the first four days, though officials are still hoping for a higher turnout before the official start of classes.

With only a few days left in the enrollment schedule, the school is encouraging students and parents to complete their registration as soon as possible.

“We are hoping to have more enrollees tomorrow, Friday,” the school administration shared, noting that Friday is expected to bring a larger number of students.

They also emphasized that while enrollment will still be accepted on Monday, but following schedule is highly encouraged to ensure a smooth and well-organized start of classes.

School officials further reminded the community that early enrollment helps avoid delays, congestion, and possible interruptions during the opening of classes.

“To avoid interruption in the opening of classes, we urge everyone to enroll now or tomorrow,” they added.

Wangan NHS remains open to accommodate all incoming students and assures the public that assistance will continue throughout the remaining enrollment days, including Monday.

BJMP PERSONNEL LEAD DAY 3 OF BRIGADA ESKWELA, DONATE OVER 100 BOXES OF LAUNDRY BARS TO WANGAN NHS

The third day of Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Wangan National High School was marked by strong community participation and generosity as students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders joined hands in preparing the school for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027.

A major highlight of the activity was the participation of more than 20 personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), who rendered voluntary service in various school improvement activities.

The BJMP team actively assisted in campus clean-up, grounds maintenance, and other tasks aimed at creating a safe and conducive learning environment for learners.

Aside from their invaluable service, the BJMP personnel also donated more than 100 boxes of laundry bars to the school.

The donation was warmly received by school officials and is expected to benefit learners and support school programs that promote health, hygiene, and student welfare.

School officials expressed their sincere appreciation to the BJMP personnel for their generosity and dedication, as well as to all volunteers and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the activity.

WANGAN NHS SIGNS MOA WITH CARE CHANNEL INC., FOR SY 2026–2027 FEEDING PROGRAM

Wangan NHS formally strengthened its partnership with Care Channel Inc. and Care Channel Social Enterprise Inc., through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) today for the implementation of the feeding program for School Year 2026–2027.

The feeding program aims to provide nutritional support to selected learners who are identified as needing assistance, helping improve their health, attendance, and overall academic performance.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of the school and its partners to promote the welfare and well-being of students.

The MOA signing was headed by **Ma'am Mei Neri, RN**, Care Channel Supervisor, together with representatives from Care Channel Inc. and Care Channel Social Enterprise and Sir Jersam M. Bangcot ,Principal III and Sir Sherwin P. Alampayan ,SHS TII.

Also present during the event were distinguished visitors from Singapore who joined the delegation in support of the partnership and its future programs for the school community.

Care Channel has been one of the longest-standing stakeholder partners of Wangan National High School.

Over the years, the organization has consistently extended its support through various projects, donations, and community development initiatives that have greatly benefited both learners and the school.
