On July 28, 2026, the Office of Guidance and Counseling spearheaded a training session titled "Nurturing the Nurturers: A Journey of Self-Love, Healing, and Resilience for Homeroom Facilitators," with Dr. Gina Lamzon as the resource person. As facilitators play the role of compassionate guides in students' growth rather than mere transmitters of information, this activity aimed to deepen their awareness of self-care, emotional well-being, and resilience to sustain their essential role. To support this journey, homeroom facilitators gathered at the 6th Floor Conference Room, where Dr. Lamzon shared general strategies for holistic wellness—including mental health continuum awareness, body-clock harmony, and daily gratitude—helping them demonstrate practical self-care and emotional regulation to manage personal and professional stressors.

The session also encouraged participants to elevate their emotional energy toward courage, peace, and growth, empowering them to develop a Personal Wellness Plan that supports ongoing well-being, reflective practice, and professional effectiveness.

As we are about to start a new school year, our facilitators are now fully ready and equipped to serve our first-year students during their homeroom sessions every Saturdays of the month.

With less than two weeks left before the new academic year starts at Holy Cross of Davao College ( ), incoming freshies dived into a productive discussion. on handling academic demands and how to succeed in college.

Guided by HCDC’s Guidance Counselor, Ms. Fria Mae S. Reyes, RGC, RPm, the incoming freshies acquired new strategies and and gained a deeper understanding of college life, during the fourth part of the College Readiness Webinar Series titled "Navigating Academic Demand: Understanding Learning Preferences and Effective Study Strategies,“ held via Zoom on July 22, 2026.

Hannah, one of the participants, shared their takeaway from the webinar, highlighting the strategies incoming students can use.

“My takeaways on this webinar are the learning methods that we can use, the learning preferences that should not only be limited to 1, but we can use all of those to improve our academics. At the same time rest to avoid being burn out, overwhelmed, or sick turning it to be the reason why it’s hard to catch up to the lessons, the proper way of time management, avoid cramming, and take proper actions right away to pass a test or an exam.”

Kyla, another participant, expressed her appreciation for the discussion.

“The webinar is a must for incoming first-year students because it helps us better prepare for college life. It provides clear guidance, answers our questions, and gives us a better understanding of what to expect. Overall, it is very helpful and beneficial for students who are about to start their college journey. Personally, I didn’t regret that i enrolled here. The facilitators and the speaker are the proof of evidence that HCDC is a good and quality school. .”
