LOOK | In response to the recent earthquake that affected Davao Region, the RMC Guidance and Counseling Office conducted an online initiative titled 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒌𝒆: 𝑹𝑴𝑪 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒕-𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏." This activity, held on October 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM via Microsoft Teams aimed to provide emotional and psychological support to students through a structured and empathetic environment for reflection and recovery.

Participants included students from the 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝑰𝑩𝑬𝑫, 𝑹𝑺𝑬𝑳𝑪, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒎 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉, all of whom benefited from the expertise of mental health professionals from the RMC Psychology Department: 𝒁𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝑩. 𝑽𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒔, 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅; 𝑪𝒚𝒓𝒊𝒍 𝑯. 𝒀𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒛, 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒏; 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑱𝒂𝒏 𝑵. 𝑩𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂, 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒓.The session featured a “KUMUSTAHAN” segment, during which students shared their personal experiences and the psychological impact of the disaster, fostering empathy, solidarity, and a deeper sense of community. Facilitators also highlighted the concept of a “mental go bag” a set of essential psychological tools comprising mental readiness, non-judgmental listening, and supportive peer engagement designed to strengthen emotional preparedness and resilience in the face of adversity.

The activity reaffirmed the institution's commitment to promoting mental wellness and psychosocial support and reflected the ongoing efforts of the RMC Guidance and Counseling Office to foster resilience, healing, and emotional growth among its learners. Looking ahead, the office remains dedicated to implementing responsive and student-centered initiatives that address the evolving mental health needs of the academic community.

LOOK | Calm After the Quake: RMC Post-Disaster Psychosocial Support Session

"In the wake of recent earthquakes and disasters, the Rizal Memorial Colleges, Inc. (RMC) community continues to stand strong — but even strength needs care. 💚

Extending a caring hand to all Rizalians, the RMC Guidance and Counseling Office invite our students to a Post-Disaster Psychosocial Support Session — a safe space to reflect, heal, and connect as we strengthen our community’s resilience and advocate for a more accessible mental health care during disasters this World Mental Health Month. Let’s make support a shared priority.
