San Miguel Elementary School Advances Learner Welfare Through School-Based Immunization Orientation and Parent Engagement
DAVAO CITY— San Miguel Elementary School of Bunawan District, Division of Davao City, strengthened its commitment to learner health, safety, and academic success through the successful conduct of its School-Based Immunization Orientation for various vaccines and grade levels, alongside the release of School Form 9 (SF9) during a Home and Parents-Teachers Association (HPTA) Meeting.
The health initiative was conducted in close coordination with the City Health Office and the Barangay San Isidro Health Center, through Nurse Elaine Pasquil, with the valuable assistance of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Their collaborative efforts ensured that parents and guardians received clear and appropriate information regarding the immunization program, including the vaccines intended for specific grade levels.
The orientation emphasized the importance of age-appropriate vaccination, informed parental participation, and strong school-health partnerships in promoting the protection of learners against vaccine-preventable diseases. Parents were given the opportunity to understand the purpose of the various vaccines and raise questions concerning their children's participation in the program.
Complementing the health activity was the release of School Form 9 (Learner’s Progress Report Card) through the HPTA Meeting. The activity provided parents with a meaningful opportunity to review their children's academic progress, communicate with teachers, and become more actively involved in supporting their children's learning journey.
The convergence of health services, academic monitoring, and parent engagement reflected the school's holistic approach to education—recognizing that learner achievement is closely supported by good health, informed families, and a responsive school community.
School Head Ronel A. Maravillas underscored the importance of sustained collaboration among the school, health sector, parents, and community stakeholders in ensuring that learners receive comprehensive support both inside and beyond the classroom.
Through the partnership of San Miguel Elementary School, the City Health Office, Barangay San Isidro Health Center, Nurse Elaine Pasquil, Barangay Health Workers, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders, the school continues to advance a learner-centered environment where health, education, and family participation converge toward one goal: empowering every learner to thrive and succeed.
