The DOST–Philippine Science High School System proudly welcomes Dr. Rochelle T. Papasin as the new Campus Director of Philippine Science High School Soccsksargen Region Campus in Koronadal City.

A true daughter of Pisay, Dr. Papasin has spent decades shaping young minds as a Special Science Teacher V at PSHS–Southern Mindanao Campus. Known for her warmth in the classroom and passion for chemistry, she has inspired students to see science as a way of thinking, creating, and making a difference.

She holds a PhD in Education from the University of the Immaculate Conception and a Master of Chemistry from Ateneo de Manila University. Over the years, she has earned national and international recognition. To name a few: the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino Teacher (2009), PFCS–Shimadzu Chemical Education Awardee (2016), and the Nobel Prize Teacher Summit Scholar (2023) in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2022, she passed the Career Executive Service Written Examination (CESWE).

Just recently, her teaching innovation, “Teaching Polarity of Molecules Using Structured Inquiry,” was published in The Science Teacher (Taylor & Francis, September/October 2025 issue). In it, Dr. Papasin turns something as simple as nail polish remover into a powerful hands-on lesson about molecular polarity.

As she begins her new role in Koronadal City, Dr. Papasin carries with her the heart of a teacher and the vision of a leader.

📣 Happening Now: Discipline-Talk Series 💬

Our Grade 9 and Grade 10 scholars are currently attending an engaging session on “Limitations of Romantic Relationships” as part of the Discipline-Talk Series here at Philippine Science High School - DR Campus.

Leading today’s discussion is Mr. Trextan Thaddeus Sanchez, one of our dedicated Student Conduct Officers, who is sharing valuable insights on setting healthy boundaries, making responsible choices, and understanding the role of discipline in maintaining balanced relationships.

This talk aims to help our scholars reflect on how emotional maturity and self-awareness contribute to both personal growth and a positive learning environment.

I can no longer count the number of times I’ve mentioned this in my speaking engagements, but it has to be reiterated. I’m all for child protection. But I’m also for strengthening student discipline policies; empowering our teachers and school administrators as special parents, and recognizing teachers as persons in authority.
