The New Valencia Integrated School successfully held its annual United Nations Month Culmination Program on November 7, 2025, transforming the school grounds into a vibrant showcase of global solidarity and community action. While UN Day is traditionally celebrated on October 24, NVIS scheduled its main event in early November to coincide with the conclusion of various classroom-based UN activities. The theme, โCooperatives Build a Better World,โ was chosen to align with the United Nationsโ declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC 2025), emphasizing the role of grassroots economic collaboration in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 2025 UN Culmination at NVIS was a resounding success, effectively integrating the global mandate of the United Nations with the local, community-focused theme of cooperativism. The event not only fostered cultural awareness and academic excellence but also instilled in the students the practical values of collective effort and shared ownership that drive community resilience.
The program concluded with a solidarity dance involving all participants, symbolizing unity and the collective commitment of the NVIS community to actively participate in the building of a better, more cooperative world. The commitment to maintaining the spirit of the IYC 2025 will be carried forward through the school's ongoing community outreach programs.

"Unlocking Literacy: A Reading Intervention Program for Struggling Readers"
Overcoming fear and delving into the captivating realm of reading. New Valencia Integrated School ignites the passion for delivering enhanced, quality education as it transforms the fun-tastic adventure of dreams into reality.
Last June 9, 2025 marked the significance of our learner's journey as NVIS concluded its culminating activity that features their talents through dancing and a short dramatic presentation. The presentation highlights the awarding of certificates to every learner, as well as various other surprises that the teacher volunteers had prepared for them.
NVIS conducted a four week Literacy Remediation Program (RLP) for grade 3 pupils and the Reading Literacy Intervention Program (RLIP) for grades 4 to 10 learners who are struggling in reading based on the Phil-IRI Results with the leadership of our school principal Robert B. Ariate accompanied by teacher volunteers both from the elementary and junior high department.
DepEd's goal is to enhance the skills and competencies of learners, with a focus on reading, to better support their learning and ensure their successful advancement to the next level. The program runs from May 13 to June 6, 2025, through remediation sessions from Monday to Thursday. And every Friday teacher volunteers discussed and planned whatever strategies they wanted to improve and achieve in the next remaining sessions.
The program focuses on giving the learners immediate, practical and exciting activities in each session. Learners' progress was monitored regularly using assessment based on the Phil-IRI manual and using other different reading materials to make the learning more interactive. Teacher volunteers employed a multi-faceted approach incorporating small group instruction, one-on-one tutoring and differentiated instruction to make learning fun and engaging.
We can say that reading is one of the most important elements of education. Understanding what we are reading is a key and is certainly the main point in teaching in a class. According to the authors of the English Expressway Book; "Reading is fundamental to function in today's society, it is a vital skill in finding a good job and is important because it develops one's mind.
This narrative report describes our experiences during the four-week remediation sessions. The knowledge, insights and experiences we got is truly mesmerizing!
