The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) participated in the CY 2026 Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 18, 2026, strengthening its culture of preparedness and resilience across campuses.
The activity was spearheaded by the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Managementโ€“Emergency Management Team (UDRRM-EMT). It aimed to ensure the safety of everyone during and after a damaging earthquake and to train the USeP community on proper actions and responses during an earthquake.
At the Obrero Campus, USeP President and Responsible Officer Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of regular earthquake drills. He emphasized the need for vigilance and preparedness, especially in light of the recent earthquakes that have affected Mindanao, including the Davao Region.

[๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—œ๐—–๐—˜ ๐—ข๐—™ ๐—›๐—ข๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐——๐—”๐—ฌ] This June 12, 2026 (Friday), the nation commemorates the 128th Araw ng Kalayaan (Independence Day), a Regular Holiday, honoring the courage and sacrifices of the heroes who fought for our freedom. Their enduring legacy reminds us that the liberties we enjoy today were won through generations of resilience, patriotism, and collective action.
The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) joins the Filipino people in celebrating this historic occasion and honoring the values of freedom, unity, and nationhood that continue to shape our collective future.
As a public institution of higher learning, USeP remains committed to nurturing informed citizens, advancing knowledge, and empowering communities through accessible and transformative education. Through teaching, research, innovation, and public service, the University contributes to the ongoing work of nation-building and the pursuit of a more just, inclusive, and progressive society.
In observance of Philippine Independence Day, work and classes across all USeP campuses are suspended.
DID YOU KNOW? The Philippines laid the groundwork to become the first constitutional republic in Asia when its independence was proclaimed on June 12, 1898, in Kawit, Cavite. During this historic declaration, the Philippine flag was officially unfurled for the first time, and the national anthemโ€”then known as the Marcha Filipina Magdaloโ€”was played. This pivotal event culminated in the formal inauguration of the First Philippine Republic on January 23, 1899.

As members of the USeP community, let us proudly display the Philippine Flag in our campuses, offices, homes, and online spaces in accordance with Republic Act No. 8491, or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, which enjoins government institutions, educational institutions, business establishments, and private residences to display the National Flag during this period.
This observance traces its roots to Proclamation No. 374 (1965), which declared May 28 as National Flag Day in honor of the first unfurling of the Philippine Flag following the Battle of Alapan in 1898, and Executive Order No. 179 (1994), which expanded the commemoration from May 28 to June 12.
More than a national symbol, the Philippine Flag embodies the sacrifices, aspirations, and enduring spirit of the Filipino people. As we raise our flag, may we also renew our commitment to patriotism, unity, and service to the nation.
Mabuhay ang Watawat ng Pilipinas. Mabuhay ang Sambayanang Pilipino!
