On this 31st day of August, we celebrate not only the history of heroism but also to honor the brave souls who endured sacrifices, taught us resistance and safeguarded our nation that led us closer to peace and freedom. We are reminded that courage is for those who dared to dream despite the oppression and abuse of power so we could walk in liberty.

From the ex*****on of Gomburza that awakened our spirit of nationalism to the reformist visions of Dr. Jose Rizal and established La Liga Filipina that stood firm for unity and social change. Then, the start of armed struggle of the Katipunan led by Andres Bonifacio that brought us to the Cry of Pugad Lawin as a symbol of defiance and the official start of the Philippine Revolution. And many other countless unnamed heroes who shaped the Philippines we acknowledge today.

The tyranny from the past, the injustice of the oppressors, and the exploitation of foreign elites
did not shatter Filipinos' resilience and fortitude. Now, we also celebrate our generational heroes, who secure public welfare and instill the value of integrity. Each of us carries a variety of strengths to be a heroโ€”through dedication to service, commitment to the common good, and accountability to our nation are only some of the many ways to become a hero.

The National Heroes Day is once again told to uphold principles, ethics, and to live by their example. May we find inspiration in the legacy of our heroes as we navigate the next chapter of our nation's testimony.

IPSO-PACTO General Assembly 2026โ€“2027: Through Leadership, Integrity, and Collective Action

The IPSO-PACTO Organization successfully conducted its General Assembly last August 3, 2026, marking another milestone in its commitment to student leadership and academic excellence. The assembly served as a platform to formally introduce IPSO-PACTO to the student body, highlighting its vision, mission, and role in fostering political awareness and engagement among students.

The program also featured the presentation of the Calendar of Activities for the academic year, ensuring that members are well-informed and prepared for the organizationโ€™s initiatives. An Accomplishment Report for A.Y. 2025โ€“2026 was delivered, showcasing the achievements and successful events that strengthened the organizationโ€™s presence within the College of Arts and Sciences.

A significant highlight of the assembly was the Election of Officers, where new leaders were chosen to continue the legacy of service and dedication. This democratic process reaffirmed the organizationโ€™s commitment to participatory leadership and student empowerment.

The assembly was graced by the presence of Prof. Jaspher Jade Baliscao, Adviser of IPSO-PACTO, whose guidance and support remain invaluable to the organizationโ€™s growth. The College of Arts and Sciences, led by Dean Dr. Annbeth B. Calla, together with the faculty, was also acknowledged for their unwavering support and encouragement, which greatly contributed to the success of the event.

As we close this yearโ€™s PolSay Week, we celebrate not only the vibrant discussions and competitions but also the spirit of civic engagement and integrity that guided our journey.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our academic leadersโ€”Dr. Annbeth Calla, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Aglu Cayetano, Liberal Coordinator; and Jaspher Jade Baliscao, Program Coordinatorโ€”for their steadfast support and guidance throughout PolSay Week. Their leadership has been instrumental in shaping the success of our activities and inspiring our students to embody civic engagement and integrity. Alongside this, we proudly give special recognition to our Outstanding Political Science Student, Rica Dulliente, whose excellence and dedication reflect the very ideals we strive to uphold.
