TUMITINDING, SUMUSULONG: DXCD 107.9 Sibya Express dominates LitJourn Year 3; bags radio broadcasting title, creative writing awards

Proving their commitment to campus journalism, Sibya, the official student publication of City College of Davao (CCD), brought home top honors from the 3rd LitJourn Conference.

Taking over the airwaves, DXCD 107.9 Sibya Express bagged the championship and Best Script in the Radio Broadcasting category. The team delivered their winning performance on September 10, 2026, at Catalunan Pequeño, showing quick news delivery, smooth technical work, and strong story packaging. Winners were officially announced on September 19, 2026.

Behind the winning broadcast was a team that brought together preparation, teamwork, and passion for journalism. The radio broadcasting team was composed of CCD student journalists Rheafie Medico, John Rey Duyac, Mikaela Saludo, Edelynne Lawas, and Aubrey Clitar. The team also received special collaboration from Kirvee Evenido of the Philippine Women’s College (PWC) of Davao, alongside technical handler Raleigh Bernal of Tugbok National High School (TNHS).

CCD writers also claimed top spots in the Creative Writing category. Alexsa Ramos won first place with her entry “Laban Kabataan”, while Crystal Daplin earned second place with "Kabataan: Pagkadapa, Pagbangon, at Pagtahan”.

Guided by this year’s theme, “Tumitinding, Sumusulong!”, these achievements highlight the publication's dedication to journalism that informs, creates, and amplifies student voices.

The City College of Davao, through the Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), conducted a Student Safety and Awareness Seminar today, September 16, 2026, at the CCD Gymnasium for all first-year students.

Resource speakers PCPL Mayeth Bagacay and PCPL Allene Ong from Police Station 17 Baliok, Davao City Police Office, tackled essential awareness topics including Crime Prevention, Anti-Drug, Anti-Hazing, Anti-Smoking, and Anti-Sexual Harassment.

CCD remains dedicated to maintaining a safe, peaceful, and empowering educational environment for every Dabawenyo student.

𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐊, 𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃!

The City College of Davao participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held today, September 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

The activity formed part of the College’s continuing commitment to disaster preparedness and campus safety. It provided the CCD community an opportunity to practice proper earthquake response procedures, including Duck, Cover, and Hold, as well as the orderly evacuation to designated assembly areas.

Through regular drills such as the NSED, the College continues to strengthen awareness, preparedness, and emergency response among its students, faculty, and staff.

Preparedness is a shared responsibility. Together, we build a safer and more resilient CCD community.

Muling pinatunayan ng City College of Davao ang yaman ng ating kultura at sariling wika sa ginanap na kulminasyon ng Buwan ng Wika at mga Katutubo 2026, sa ilalim ng temang: “Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon.” Ang makabuluhang selebrasyong ito ay matagumpay na pinangunahan ni Dr. Ismael W. Baog, Director ng Office of Student Affairs, kasama ang buong dedikasyon ng Supreme Student Government at ng IP Pabulus Club upang maitaguyod ang sining, makabagong kaalaman, pamana, at pagkakaisa sa ating akademiko at katutubong pamayanan.

Naging puno ng sigla at kulay ang buong kampus sa pamamagitan ng iba't ibang kapana-panabik na aktibidad at kompetisyon na nagpakita ng angking husay ng mga mag-aaral. Ipinamalas ng bawat isa ang kanilang talino at malikhaing pag-iisip sa Pagsusulat ng Sanaysay at Tula pati na rin sa Poster at Slogan. Niyanig naman ng galaw, damdamin, at pagkakaisa ang entablado sa Sabayang Pagbigkas, Katutubong Sayaw, at sa nakakahalinang Ula-ula (Cultural Presentation). Lalo pang naging masaya at makabuluhan ang pagdiriwang sa pagtatampok ng masarap na tradisyon sa Paligsahan sa Nilutlot at ang pagbabalik-tanaw sa ating mga katutubong laro sa Larong Lahi.

Isang taos-pusong pasasalamat at pagpupugay sa lahat ng nakiisa, nagbahagi ng talento, at patuloy na nagpapalalim ng ating pagmamahal sa wikang Filipino at sa ating katutubong pinagmulan sa gitna ng makabagong teknolohiya. Patuloy nating payabungin ang ating kultura at ipagmalaki ang ating tunay na pagkakakilanlan!

The City College of Davao, led by College President Dr. Wenefredo E. Cagape, warmly welcomed a distinguished delegation from Japan for an exploratory meeting aimed at establishing strategic international collaborations. CCD was honored to host Ms. Kiyomi Tajima, CEO of College Impact Japan, and Mr. Kimihiro Tsumura, Director of Hamamatsu Gakuin University, along with their representatives in Davao City.

During the high-level discussion, both parties explored transformative opportunities to expand global horizons for the CCD community, focusing on joint research collaborations, cultural exchange programs, faculty and student scholarships, and long-term academic linkages.
