In a triumph of scientific inquiry, Stephanie Ravelo secured the second-place position in the Research Poster competition during the 5th Liyang 2023 International Research Conference. The event, held last November 7-8, 2023 at Airlangga University in Surabaya, Indonesia, brought together the brightest minds from nine different countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and India.

As our world grapples with environmental challenges, Stephanie Ravelo's research stands as a beacon of hope, offering insights that may pave the way for more effective mitigation and management strategies. Her second-place win at the Research Poster competition underscores the significance of her work and positions her as a rising star in the field of marine science.

In the wake of the Liyang 2023 International Research Conference, Ravelo's research on dinoflagellate cysts serves as a reminder that even the tiniest organisms can wield significant influence on the health of our oceans and coastal communities. Tagum Doctors’ College Inc. (TDCI) once again showed International-level performance during the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥, 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥, 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 (𝐢𝐌𝐏𝐚𝐂𝐇𝐒) last January 16, 2023 at the 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐌𝐒𝐔) 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐦, 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚.

The School’s Research Management Center facilitated and supported the research entry of the students from Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science department 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐜𝐢 𝐂. 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐚 𝐊𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐮𝐲𝐨𝐜, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀. 𝐋𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐊𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐬 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐳, as well as the research entry of students from Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy department 𝐌𝐬. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃. 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐳𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐊𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐋. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧 for the said symposium.

Diving deeper, the research study of the Medical Laboratory students presented the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the effects of the attainment of medical laboratory tests and hospital services, and derived from the conclusions are the crises such as a decrease in hospital utilization, and dissemination of health professionals were not proper nor efficient during the pandemic, causing a more time-consuming process of acquiring tests.
On the other hand, the research study of the Pharmacy Department students presented the analyses of the knowledge, attitude, and practice of different participants classified through gender, age, and educational attainment on the intake of Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs for the management of pain with patients that have hypertension. It was discussed that the lack of knowledge and application of NSAIDs may even lead to the potential development of side effects, and as such, the conclusion yielded that the test subjects involved have an average level of knowledge of NSAIDs.

A 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐜𝐢 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚, and a 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐬. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚 presented the respective research studies of their group through online platform and were declared winners of the e-poster competition in the said symposium.
