Eight Decades. Three Presidents. One Legacy.
The University of Mindanao commemorates another historic milestone in preserving its rich heritage with the unveiling of the President's Wall and the opening of the Institutional History Exhibit.
Spearheaded by UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr., the event gathered members of the Executive Committee, Management Committee, Branch Directors, Heads of Offices, Librarians and staff in a meaningful celebration of the University's enduring legacy and remarkable journey through eight decades of excellence.
The President's Wall pays tribute to the visionary leaders whose dedication, commitment, and steadfast leadership have shaped the University's growth and development across generations. Featured on the wall are the University's three presidents:
• Atty. Guillermo E. Torres Sr., Founding President (1946–1989)
• Dr. Dolores P. Torres, Second President (1989–2007)
• Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr., Third President (2007–Present)
Complementing the unveiling is the Institutional History Exhibit, which showcases carefully preserved photographs, historical records, artifacts, and significant milestones that chronicle the University's evolution from its founding in 1946 to the present day. The exhibit reflects the institution's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and service to the community.
More than a display of history, these permanent installations serve as enduring reminders of the University's legacy, honoring the individuals who built its foundation, celebrating the milestones that define its journey, and inspiring future generations of the University of Mindanao community to continue its tradition of excellence.
As the University of Mindanao celebrates 80 years of transforming lives through quality education, the President's Wall and the Institutional History Exhibit stand as lasting symbols of its proud past and its continued vision for the future.
Onward, UM!
