Today, we celebrate more than a festival. We celebrate gratitude, culture, and the unity that brings us together as one community. Every color, rhythm, and tradition reflects the rich heritage of Davao and the strength found in our diversity.
May this Kadayawan inspire us to honor our roots, appreciate one another, and carry the spirit of thanksgiving wherever we go.

With the rising demand for competent educators in the field of Campus Journalism, Davao Central College conducts the Campus Journalism and School Paper Management Seminar-Workshop in DCC Main Campus School Gymnasium on August 07, 2026
The workshop features school paper advisers: Junel "Leon" Garsuta and Rogelio R. Ornido, from DCC - Basic Education Campus and Crossing Bayabas National High School.
Garsuta emphasizes the need for future journalism teachers to learn the foundations of the press to teach their students effectively and efficiently.
Moreover, he encourages participants to immerse themselves in journalistic writing, as it will help future instructors to guide their students to produce high-quality news outputs.
In addition, Garsuta tackles the ethics and foundations of news writing, sportswriting, copy reading, feature writing, science and technology writing, and opinion writing, widening the participants' knowledge in news media.
Meanwhile, Ornido led the discussion about the legal weight of campus journalism and the role of school paper advisers in a publication.
He stressed the importance of educators who are exposed to campus journalism, as this will be a great asset to their future workspaces and mold their students to be critical thinkers and competent writers.
Furthermore, Ornido shared his knowledge about school paper layout, photojournalism, and mobile journalism, showcasing the continuous adaptation of journalism to cater to the way people consume news.
The campus journalism seminar workshop became an avenue for future educators in DCC to gain first-hand knowledge about journalism that they can use to manage future school publications.

The Davao Central College (DCC) CSSG Commission on Student Elections (COMSELEC) conducted the Academic Year 2026โ2027 Student Government Elections on August 3, 2026, as students exercised their right to vote and elect the next set of Student Government officials who will represent the student body.
To ensure the orderly and efficient conduct of the elections, COMSELEC established designated polling areas for each college and department. Students from the Information Technology Education (ITE) Department cast their ballots at the Council of Clubs and Organizations (CCO) Office, while those from the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) voted at the School Gym Stage.
Meanwhile, students from the Hospitality Management Education (HME) Department proceeded to the School LibraryโComputer Laboratory, while the College of Education and Liberal Arts (CELA) and the College of Business Administration (CBA) shared the polling station at Bahandi (Student Lounge).
COMSELEC reminded the student body that voting is mandatory for all officially enrolled students of Davao Central College for Academic Year 2026โ2027. Students were allowed to cast their votes during the official morning, afternoon, or evening voting sessions to accommodate their class schedules and encourage greater participation.
The Student Government Elections serve as an avenue for the DCC community to actively participate in campus governance by choosing student leaders who will uphold the interests, welfare, and aspirations of the student body for the Academic Year 2026โ2027. Through the collective participation of its students, the institution continues to promote democratic values, responsible leadership, and active civic engagement within the campus community.
