The Name the Zero Harm Mascots Contest is now open!

Contest Rules and Regulations:

1. The contest is open to children, siblings, nieces, nephews and grandchildren of Magsaysay employees and crew members who are below 15 years old.

2. The contest is open from April 21 to May 19, 2015.

3. The contest is divided into three categories – Bee, Beaver and Firefly. Each category represents one Zero Harm mascot.

BEE CATEGORY:

Submitted names for this category are for Bee, the Health mascot. Bees produce honey, which is known for its many health benefits to humans. Honey can help prevent cancer and heart disease, reduce cough and throat irritation, reduce ulcers and gastrointestinal disorders and is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, among many other great things.

FIREFLY CATEGORY:

Submitted names for this category are for Firefly, the Environment mascot. Fireflies are reliable signs of a strong and stable environment because they can only survive and thrive in habitats that are clean and healthy. Pesticides, waste and other pollutants can quickly destroy their homes, which is why fireflies are now one of the endangered species in the world.

BEAVER CATEGORY:

Submitted names for this category are for Beaver, the Safety and Security mascot. Beavers build dams in rivers in order to create structurally sound homes to keep themselves safe. They are also known for the alarm signal that they use to warn others when danger is near: when startled or frightened, a beaver dives while slapping the water with its broad tail, a sound which can be heard even from far away.

4. A winning entry will be chosen for each category by the judges. Contest entrants can choose to submit an entry for any one (1) or all of the three (3) categories, however, entrants must submit a separate entry for each category they choose to participate in. Contest entrants are only allowed to submit one entry per category. Group submission is not allowed.

5. Submitted names must not have been previously published or have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon any existing trademarks or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.

6. Submitted entries can be written in English or Filipino and must include the following information:

• Name and Age of Participant
• Complete Home Address and Contact Number
• Contest Category
• Mascot Name
• Rationale Behind the Name (Must be limited to 100 words only)
• Name and Business Unit/Department/Fleet of the Magsaysay Employee
or Crew Member
• Relationship of the Participant to the Magsaysay Employee or Crew Member

7. Submitted entries must be emailed to [email protected] on or before May 19, 2015, 5:00 p.m. Incomplete entries will not be accepted.

8. Names submitted will be evaluated by a panel of judges composed of selected Magsaysay employees. Entries will be judged according to:
a. Catchiness of the name – 30%
b. Ease of pronunciation and recall – 30%
c. Relevance of the name to what the Zero Harm mascot symbolizes - 40%
- This part is important! Be as creative as you want, but make sure that your rationale makes sense and is appropriate for the chosen category.

9. After all nominations have been submitted, the top five names for each Zero Harm mascot shall be posted on the Magsaysay page and open for public viewing and voting. The winning entry for each category will be the entry that has the most number of votes. Schedule and mechanics for public voting will be announced separately.

10. The winning names will be announced on June 3, 2015.

11. Each category winner will receive Php 5,000 cash, Php 2,000 worth of Sodexo gift certificate, exclusive Zero Harm T-shirt and certificate of recognition.

12. By joining the competition, all entries automatically become the property of the Magsaysay Group of Companies.
