Beyond the Crown
DIHS Teacher Pageant celebrates charm and talents for a golden cause

Marking a milestone of Dasmariñas Integrated High School’s golden year, Mr. and Ms. DIHS 2025 served as one of the highlights of the 50th Founding Anniversary— a celebration that shone light on creativity, purpose, and unity across the school community.

“Hindi lang ito pageant. It was a show of community and character.” overall chairwoman Lala B. De Guzman-Dalangin emphasized, underscoring the heart of the program.

For this year’s competition, the spotlight turned to the teachers — stepping onto the stage to showcase their hidden talents and individuality.

Besides being a competition and a showcase of beauty and poise, the event was designed to bring teachers, students, alumni, and non-teaching staff together in celebration of DIHS’ 50th Founding Anniversary.

What started as a competition exclusive to alumnus has now grown into a collaboration of teachers, non-teaching staff, students, and the alumni themselves— widening the scope of the pageant to showcase the community’s diverse talents.

The pageant revealed a brand new version of the teachers that was rarely seen in the classroom— creativity, confidence, and flair overflowing all throughout the event.

Even with less than a month of preparation, departments poured energy into every detail. Rehearsals, costumes, stage design, and intermission numbers all carried the mark of ingenuity.

“Mahirap kumilos ng mag-isa lang, mas maganda talaga may committees,” De Guzman-Dalangin explained, describing the hardships the team went through to ensure the seamless flow of the program and transitions between segments.

Even with limited resources, De Guzman-Dalangin and the entire pageant committee headed by Mrs. FIlipinas Astorga stretched the budget to ensure a memorable and well-executed event.

Besides a showcase of creativity and talent, the Mr. and Ms. DIHS also served as an outlet of compassion, serving as a fundraising activity to contribute for the grand celebration at the Dasmariñas Arena.

Though fundraising played a role, the true essence of Mr. and Ms. DIHS was its power to unite the community and shine light to the talents that make it extraordinary.

In the glow of the crown and sash, the true victory lay not in titles, but in the unity and bond forged across departments— turning a single afternoon into a heartfelt celebration and a testament to how shared purpose and pride can light up the school’s 50th year with lasting memories.

“Pinapakita nito yung camaraderie, yung cooperation, as well as yung, bayanihan, kasi malaking tulong ‘to specifically sa mga students, lalo na sila ‘yung most na nangangailangan

DIHS marks 50th year with Filipino culture-themed department frontages

In celebration of its 50th founding anniversary, the subject departments of Dasmariñas Integrated High School showcased Filipino pride and creativity through the “Fiesta sa DIHS: Booth and Frontage Decoration Contest.”
Each department designed a thematic booth that embodied Filipino culture, aligning with the golden anniversary’s festive spirit.

Liezel Aquino Aveño, a Filipino teacher, said their department adopted a baryo-style design inspired by traditional values of pagtutulungan, masagana, bigayan, and handaan.

Their booth featured materials such as banderitas, kawayan, recycled items, bilao, tarpaulin, a fruit-laden banana tree, and a symbolic windmill, as well as planned to offer free rice as part of their cultural showcase.

“Our design represents Filipino culture and the tradition of bayanihan. It’s a celebration of abundance and generosity,” said Aveño.

Meanwhile, Arlene D. Alberto, an English teacher, said their department presented a vibrant fiesta-themed booth.

Their setup included banderitas, flaglets, a dining table, plates, an ice cream cart, and a banana tree—each symbolizing Filipino enthusiasm, hospitality, and the joy of sharing food during fiestas.

May banderitas kami, may flaglets to symbolize the enthusiastic spirit of the Filipinos and the English teachers,” she added.

Booths were also evaluated in the Search for Best Department Frontage and Booth Design, encouraging departments to creatively express the event’s theme, “50 Years of DIHS: May Kislap at Ningning ng Singkwenta Anyos.”

The Araling Panlipunan Department won first place, followed by Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (EsP) Department in second place and the Mathematics Department in third place.

Other highlights of the anniversary week included a motorcade, lugaw-for-a-cause, a school bazaar, and the Mr. and Ms. DIHS competition.

Smiles of Service, Hands That Care
Medical & Dental Mission Resumes DIHS’ 50th Celebration

As the sunny skies returned, so did the celebration of Dasmariñas Integrated High School’s 50th Anniversary —resuming with a Medical and Dental Mission following several days of weather-related cancellations.

Held at the school library, the mission provided free medical and dental services to students, teachers, and alumni.

Running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the event offered essential services such as medical consultations, dental screenings, HIV testing, X-rays, and the distribution of free medicines and vitamins. The mission was made possible through the collaboration of the DIHS Alumni Association, the staff of Gov. Abeng Remulla, and the school’s dedicated personnel.

May mga event pero hindi ganito [free medical/dental services], first time!” said Analyn Lapaya, officer of DIHSAAI and full-time mother. She emphasized how helpful and timely the program was, especially for those needing medical assistance.

Through the mission, DIHS not only celebrated its golden legacy but also upheld its life-long purpose: to serve, to help, and to give back to the community. “Mas magandang mag-celebrate ng buhay patungo sa kalusugan,” shared Jojit Gatdula, TLE Teacher, expressing his appreciation for meaningful outreach over lavish celebrations.

Among the volunteers was Myrna Pagarao, a proud Batch 1982 alumna, who remarked, “Hindi magulo... Maayos, may pagkakaisa. Ako volunteer, nag-a-assist ako sa nagpapacheck-up. Okay naman, maganda.” Her comments reflected the smooth coordination and shared spirit of service that defined the day.

According to Richard Padul from the Outreach Program Team, around 40 personnel—including doctors, nurses, drivers, and tech staff—participated in the event. Alongside them were 18 DIHSAAI officers, numerous alumni volunteers, teachers, and students, all working together to make the mission a success.

As the medical mission came to a close, the commitment of those who worked and volunteered stood as a testament to DIHS’s enduring purpose—to serve, to uplift, and to always return to the community it calls home.
