BAKAWANIHAN: When Nationalians Plant, the Planet Heals. 🌱💙
Our 350 mangrove seedlings planted in San Rafael IV are more than numbers - they are carbon vaults, storm shields, and lifelines for our coast.
Their impact?
🔹 107.8 metric tons of CO₂ locked away
🔹 Equivalent to charging 13 million smartphones
🔹 Offsetting emissions equal to driving 435,000 km
🔹 Preventing 12,000 gallons of gasoline’s worth of carbon from entering the atmosphere
🔹 And stopping plastic waste from flowing into Manila Bay
This is what collective action looks like. This is the power of BAKAWANIHAN.
BUT THE FIGHT FOR OUR MANGROVES ISN'T OVER.
🌿 Be there for the next BAKAWANIHAN.
PLANT WITH US. PROTECT WITH US. PRESERVE WITH US.

BAKAWANIHAN 2025: Bayanihang Nationalian para sa Kalikasan
Last December 6, 2025, the NU Dasmariñas Architecture Department partnered with MENRO–Noveleta and the Noveleta Mangrove Farmers Association in San Rafael IV for a mission that goes beyond one day—to heal and protect our coastlines.
Together, we planted 350 mangrove seedlings as part of the municipality’s rehabilitation efforts, restoring a natural shield that protects communities from storm surges, erosion, and flooding.
Our volunteers also gathered bags of plastic waste that were already on their way to Manila Bay—proof of how urgent and necessary our collective action is.
Every seedling planted is a promise. Every piece of trash removed is a step toward a safer, cleaner future.
Let’s continue turning small actions into lasting impact. 🌊🌿

PROJECT NAIS 2025
Today, in celebration of International Human Rights day, the NU Dasmariñas Architecture Department spent December 10 with the PDLs of BJMP Dasmariñas City Jail through Project NAIS – Nurturing compassion, Answering wish, Inspiring hope, and Sharing blessings.
With simple Christmas gifts from our students, faculty, and partners, we were able to bring smiles to PDLs—especially those who have not received visits from their families.
May today’s small act of kindness spark hope, support their rehabilitation, and remind them that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.

NU Dasmariñas Architecture × BJMP-Dasmariñas | Project SIGLA (Sanitation & Inclusion for Gender-responsive, Life-affirming Access)
The NU Dasmariñas-Architecture Department recently concluded one of the first of many collaborative efforts with the BJMP-Dasmariñas Ladies Dormitory. After more than a month of coordination, collection of donations and preparation (including purchasing & repacking personal hygiene items), a handful of faculty members from Architecture Department personally presented these hygiene kits to the lady PDLs of BJMP-Dasmariñas on November 14, 2025. Simple refreshments were also shared. Four of the talented lady PDLs presented a song & dance number, while some enjoyed a simple game with prizes. It was a momentous day filled with warm words from our grateful beneficiaries.
Thank you to BJMP leadership and our NU-Dasma faculty & donors such as UAP Cavite Tierra Alta Chapter for the shared commitment to service.
