To strengthen its call for a safer and more respectful campus, Edilberto S. Legaspi Integrated High School launched a schoolwide Anti-Bullying Awareness Campaign on June 9 at the schoolโs covered court.
Principal II Mrs. Ruchelle A. Baysan opened the campaign, emphasizing that school should be a safe haven where learners become responsible, disciplined, kind, and respectful individuals.
Mrs. Baysan also connected the campaign to DepEdโs Child Protection Policy and reminded students to respect others and practice proper conduct both offline and online daily.
Values Education Club Adviser Ms. Maxine Alexandra Lumbridas, presented the objectives: promoting safety, awareness, values, empowerment, community involvement, and holistic learner development through the campaign activities.
Ms. Lumbridas shared survey results showing that 68% of Filipinos have experienced bullying, with verbal, social, physical, and cyberbullying identified as the most common forms among victims.
Bullying forms and effects on studentsโ emotional health, academic performance, and mental well-being during the awareness session were discussed by Guidance Designate Ms. Aeriel P. Cantiller.
Meanwhile, Guidance Designate Ms. Ma. Caridad D. Durana tackled the Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (CSAEM), emphasizing awareness, prevention, and responsible reporting.
Ms. Durana reminded students to protect personal information and stay safe online, especially when using digital platforms where exploitation may occur secretly and rapidly spread quickly.
To enhance child protection, Guidance Designate Mrs. Marjorie S. Enriquez introduced the Quick Report Box, QR Code Reporting System, and MAKABATA Helpline 1383 to learners.
Interviews during the event showed positive expectations from school officials, teachers, and students, who hoped for stronger reporting and a safer, more respectful campus environment.
OIC-Assistant Principal Vicente Revota encouraged learners to report bullying incidents and apply the lessons gained from the campaign in daily school interactions with others consistently.
The program ended with the Learnerโs Commitment Pledge, where participants vowed to fight bullying, abuse, and exploitation through unity, vigilance, and compassion within the school.
Participants concluded with the collective statement: โBastaโt Taga-Edilberto, Protektado. Lahat ay mata, lahat ay boses, Lahat ay tagapangalaga,โ affirming shared responsibility.
