Congratulations, Rica Lyn Casil, for placing first on Tatsulok‘s Psynergy Spoken Word Poetry Contest.

Her poem is not just words—it’s a mirror, a weapon, and a memorial.
“𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙢, 𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙢, 𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙖 𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣.”

The Filipino youth’s potential is never confined within four walls, it lives in the streets, in the mountains, in every act of defiance against a broken system.

“𝙃𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙡𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙠𝙪𝙠𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞 𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙞𝙮𝙖𝙬 𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙢𝙪𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣.”

A piece that speaks of bullets that try to stop bodies but can never kill a wide-awake consciousness. Because the power of the youth is in refusing to be silent in the face of corruption.

“𝙉𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙡 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙣, 𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖 𝙧𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣.”

And when the state panics at a youth that knows how to feel, the answer remains:
“𝘼𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙣, 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙣!”

That is the battle cry—loud, brave, and never an act of terror, but an act of love for a nation aching for truth.

“𝘽𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙖 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙮.”

Even those taken too soon rise again through every heart that dares to remember, to speak, and to fight.
