This August 21, 2026, we commemorate the life and legacy of former ๐๐๐ง๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ง๐ข๐ ๐ง๐จ โ๐๐ข๐ง๐จ๐ฒโ ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐จ ๐๐ซ., a political leader whose courage and conviction reshaped the course of Philippine history. Known as one of the most prominent voices of opposition during the Marcos regime, Ninoy Aquino stood firm in his beliefs even in the face of imprisonment, exile, and ultimately, death.
His assassination on August 21, 1983, became the spark that ignited the ๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐
๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐, a movement that proved the strength of unity and the unyielding spirit of the Filipino people. Ninoyโs sacrifice reminded the nation that freedom is not handed down easily, it is fought for, protected, and lived out daily through truth, justice, and compassion.
Today, as we honor his memory, we are called to reflect on what it truly means to be free, especially in a time when our country continues to face challenges that test our integrity and unity. From the rising cost of living and unemployment to misinformation and political division, to the struggles of ordinary citizens seeking justice and equality, these are the modern battles that demand the same courage Ninoy once showed.

Let this commemoration remind us that the fight for democracy never ends. It continues in our classrooms, workplaces, and communities, wherever integrity, compassion, and accountability are upheld.
