It was solid from start to finish. Strong focus on fundamentals, proper technique, and understanding the role of the drummer in the music team. Great questions, active participation, and clear growth even within the session itself. Grateful for a room full of teachable, passionate church drummers. This is a strong start, and we’re building from here.

𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣! 💯

In 2008, Clem Burke of Blondie, along with Professors Steve Draper and Marcus Smith, launched The Clem Burke Drumming Project to study the link between drumming and fitness.
From 1997 to 2007, Smith’s team monitored Burke’s physiological responses while performing, finding that his heart rate averaged 145 bpm, peaking at 190 bpm. They also studied drummers from Bloc Party and Primal Scream, who burned nearly 600 calories per hour on stage.

The research showed that drumming can significantly raise heart rates (from a resting 75 bpm to nearly 200 bpm) and breathing rates (from 15 to 50 breaths per minute), improving circulation and regulating blood pressure. Since the body only responds to exertion, not its source, drumming acts as an effective cardiovascular workout, much like traditional exercise. ❤️‍🔥
