Sa gitna ng mga kalsadang lubog sa tubig, mga pamilyang naglilikas, at mga taong nangangailangan ng tulong, malinaw na hindi lang ito tungkol sa โ€œpagtitiis.โ€ Ito ay tungkol sa mga Pilipinong patuloy na lumalaban para sa buhay, kabuhayan, at mga karapatan ng kapwa.

Ngayong ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—”๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜„ ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—บ๐—ด๐—ฎ ๐—•๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ, hindi lamang natin inaalala ang mga bayaning kilala sa kasaysayan. Kilala rin natin ang mga modernong bayani na madalas hindi napapansin, ngunit araw-araw na nagsisilbi at nagsasakripisyo para sa bayan.

Sila ang mga โ€œ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜๐—ต๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€โ€ na pumapasok sa ospital nang umaga at gabi, may baha man o wala para lamang magserbisyo sa mga nangangailangan at may sakit.

Ang pagiging bayani ay hindi dapat isang hamak na pagsasakripisyo lamang. Dapat silang magkaroon ng makatarungang sahod, sapat na benepisyo, at proteksyon.

Sila ang mga ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฎ at ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฑ๐—ฎ na hindi man lang natigil sa pagtatrabaho kahit anumang kalamidad ang dumaan kapalit ng kaunting kita. Huwag na nating malimutan ang mga kamay na nagtrabaho upang ang tayo ay may makain sa ating hapag.

Sila rin ang mga ๐—ธ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ธ๐—ผ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ na patuloy na ipinaglalaban ang kanilang lupang ninuno, kultura, at mga karapatan. Sa mga usapin tulad ng Pax Silica project, ang paninindigan ng mga magsasaka at Aeta community laban sa mga proyektong maaaring makaapekto sa kanilang lupain at kabuhayan ay paalala na ang pagtatanggol sa sariling komunidad ay bahagi rin ng kabayanihan.

Sila ang mga ๐˜๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ท๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜† na patuloy na hinahatid ang mga Pilipino sa paaralan, trabaho, at tahanan, sa gitna ng tumataas na presyo ng gasolina, ng nagtataasang baha, at ng kakarampot na kita na nauuwi sa pamilya nila.

Sila ang mga ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ na sumusulong sa ulan, baha, at mapanganib na kondisyon upang maihatid ang pagkain, gamot, at iba pang pangangailangan. Sa bawat serbisyong natatanggap natin, may isang taong unang humarap sa hirap bago ito makarating sa atin.

Sila ang mga ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—ฒ ๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐—น๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ na hindi nag atubiling magliligtas kahit na mapanganib at nakasalalay ang kanilang buhay.

Sila ang mga ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ na patuloy na naglilinis at nag-aalaga sa ating kapaligiran, lalo na pagkatapos ng pagbaha. Karaniwang hindi napapansin ang kanilang trabaho, ngunit sila ang nagsisilbing malaking bahagi sa pagpapanatiling ligtas at malusog ng ating mga komunidad.

Sila ang mga ๐—ด๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ผ na patuloy na nagbibigay ng edukasyon at inspirasyon sa mga mag-aaral. Hindi lamang sila nagtuturo sa silid-aralan; sila rin ay gabay at sandigan ng mga kabataan at ng komunidad.

Ngunit tandaan natin: hindi dapat kailangan maubos ang lakas, malagay sa panganib, o magsakripisyo nang sobra bago kilalanin bilang bayani ang isang tao.

Ang kabayanihan ay hindi lang bahagi ng nakaraan. Ito ang buhay ng bawat Pilipinong tumutulong, naglilingkod, at hindi sumusuko.
