𝘐𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘪 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴, 𝘛𝘉𝘊 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳

Isang daan at dalawampu't walong taon na ang nakalipas simula nang ipahayag ang kalayaan ng Pilipinas mula sa mga pananakop ng mga Kastila. Naganap ito sa balkonahe ng bahay ni dating Pangulong Emilio Aguinaldo sa Cavite kung saan iwinagayway ang watawat ng bansa kasama ng pagwika ni Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista ng Deklarasyon ng Kalayaan mula sa mga banyaga. Matapos tatlong daan at tatlumpu't tatlong taon ng pananakop ay naganap ito bunga ng tapang, sakripisyo, at pagmamahal sa bayan ng mga Pilipinong inialay maging ang kanilang buhay para sa kalayaan.

Ang araw ng kalayaan ay nananatiling higit pa sa isang paggunita sa nakaraan—isa itong paalala na ang kalayaan ay hindi natatapos sa pag tataboy ng mananakop. Isang adhikaing dapat patuloy na pinangangalagaan at isinasabuhay ng bawat henerasyon dahil ang pagkakakulong ng ating demokrasya ay hindi lamang sa pananakop ng mga banyaga nangyayari.

Nananatili parin ang mga hamong sumusubok sa ating bansa at nagkakait sa atin ng kalayaan. Sa gitna ng korapsyon, maling paggamit ng kapangyarihan, at mga suliraning panlipunan, naaalala natin na ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pagkakaroon ng sariling watawat ngunit ito rin ay ang kakayahang mamuhay nang may dignidad, katarungan, at pantay na oportunidad.

Ngayong araw ng kalayaan, nawa’y hindi lamang natin alalahanin ang mga bayani ng nakaraan. Nawa’y maging insipirasyon sila upang tayo rin ay maging mabubuting mamamayan sa kasalukuyan. Mamamayang mapanuri sa katotohanan, matatag sa paninindigan, at handang kumilos at ipaglaban ang bayan. Sapagkat ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang pamana ng ating mga ninuno. Ito ay isang responsibilidad na ipinagkatiwala sa ating upang manatili at maipasa sa mga susunod na mamamayang pilipino.

Sa araw na ito ay kinikilala hindi lamang ang nakaraang naghatid sa Pilipinas ng kalayaan mula sa ilang daang taon ng pananakop. Inaalala ngayon ang bawat Pilipino na pilit lumalaban upang mapanatili ang kalayaan na mayroon tayo. Sa mga manunulat na patuloy na naghahatid ng mga totoong impormasyon kahit na kaakibat nito ang takot at pambabanta— kayo ang tunay na gumigising sa demokrasya ng ating bansa. Sa mga opisyal ng gobyerno— nasyonal man o lokal— na nanatiling tapat sa paglilingkod para sa taong-bayan at hindi para sa pera ng taong-bayan, nawa'y patuloy kayong maging mga boses ng Pilipino sa mga pagdinig sa kabila ng mas malakas na boses ng kasakiman.

At higit sa lahat, sa bawat Pilipinong nananatiling mulat sa katotohanan at lumalaban para sa kaalaman at karapatan ng lahat, kayo ang pag-asa sa ating pagkamit kalayaan saanmang larangan ng lipunan.

Competing in the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆, the group brought the spirit of Mayon to the national stage with their program entitled "𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐚" (𝙀𝙧𝙪𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣). The performance earned them a grand total of 𝟗𝟐.𝟔𝟎 and the highest distinction of a 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 Proficiency Level.

Aside from capturing the championship title, the Oragon Drum Corps dominated the arena by sweeping the special awards, including:

𝘉𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘭 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘰 𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯, 𝘛𝘉𝘊 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘓𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵

On the first day of May, the Philippines observes a national holiday dedicated to celebrate and honor the hard work, sacrifices, and perseverance of Filipino workers from all industries. It recognizes not only professionals but also the everyday heroes whose labor keeps communities alive and functioning. It is also celebrated to commemorate the historical struggle of our Filipino workers— their rights, unity, and the continuous fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal opportunities.

The Philippine Labor Day was initially observed on May 1, 1903, which gathered more than 100,000 Filipino workers. Led by the Union Obrera Democratica de Filipinas (UODF)— founded by Herminigildo Cruz— they marched from Plaza Moriones in Tondo, Manila to Malacañang Palace to demand fair wages and oppose American colonial rule. The UODF was recognized as the country’s first modern labor federation.

At present, many Filipino workers continue to receive low wages and inadequate support from the government. Despite these challenges, they remain resilient and steadfast in fulfilling their duties in order to provide for their families and contribute to the nation’s development.

Regardless of their role, every Filipino worker contributes to the nation’s growth. Their perseverance and dedication deserve not only recognition but also fair opportunities and support.

Equipped with insights, inspiration, and practical advice, Grade 12 students of Bicol College gathered on April 26, 2026, for this year’s annual Career Guidance Program anchored on the theme #𝗛𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗠𝗼𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁. The activity aimed to help learners make informed decisions regarding their college courses, career choices, and future professional journeys as they near the completion of their senior high school education.

A roster of distinguished resource speakers from various industries and fields shared their expertise and experiences, guiding the students to recognize their strengths, interests, and potential career opportunities. Among the speakers were Ms. Consorcia Evelyn E. Sotto, Mr. Arjie Lopo, Ms. Mila Longasa, Dr. Ester Listor, Engr. Wilfranz Correa, Ryan Michael Pitero, FO3 Justin Carlo Tabuena, Dr. Meriam Abion, and Ms. Anna Maica D. Dematera. Each speaker provided valuable perspectives covering different sectors from education, engineering, tourism, business, and social sciences, giving students a clear view of the demands and rewards of various professions. They also highlighted the importance of resilience, continuous learning, and adaptability in navigating today’s dynamic working environment.

In Ms. Dematera’s message, she emphasized the lasting impact of educators and mentors in shaping individual growth. She emphasized that just as teachers have played meaningful and transformative roles in the lives of every learner, it is equally important for students to pass on the same kindness and guidance. “Sino ba ang teacher na nakapagpabago sa buhay nyo? Think of that teacher. And be that person for someone else.”

The program successfully empowered the learners to take charge of their future with confidence and purpose, truly living up to the event’s theme that reminds every student: the rhythm and direction of your future is in your hands.

Following the On-the-Spot Poster Making and Slogan Making activities held on April 13, 2026, The Meliors Society continued the celebration with two of its most anticipated events: the Tigsik Competition and the seminar titled “𝙎𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡-𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚: 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙊𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝘼𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨," the next day, April 14. These highlighted activities gathered the student body of the Bicol College Senior High School Department at the BC Gymnasium.

The program commenced with participants from different grade levels and strands performing their prepared Tigsik pieces. As a form of Bikolano poetry, the participants delivered oragon literary works that reflected the event’s theme and promoted awareness of mental well-being. Through eloquent use of the Bikol language and powerful advocacy for mental health, the participants reminded the audience that literature can serve as a vessel for encouragement and awareness.

After the intense Tigsik Competition was the seminar proper. Mr. Ken B. Cuarto, a registered Psychometrician, served as the resource speaker. He discussed key terminologies related to academic stress and the emotional challenges that students commonly experience in academic settings. The discussion held great significance for the participating students, as many of them currently face similar pressures. Through his expertise, Mr. Cuarto provided valuable insights that helped students better understand their emotions, recognize healthy responses to stress, and develop discipline in managing academic challenges.

The program concluded with the announcement of winners from the different competitions, recognizing the outstanding participants who showcased their creativity, advocacy, and literary talent.

𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘺: 𝘚𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘢 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘢 𝘙𝘢𝘮𝘢, 𝘛𝘉𝘊 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳

The Bicol College Senior High School Department, through the Meliors Society, successfully held its much-anticipated event titled “𝗔𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮: 𝗧𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹, 𝗧𝗼 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵, 𝗧𝗼 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲” on April 13, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in the BC Gymnasium. The event gathered Grade 11 and Grade 12 students in a celebration of creativity, expression, and personal growth.

Highlighting the program were the On-the-Spot Poster Making and Slogan Making contests, where participants showcased their artistic and literary skills. Poster-making contestants were tasked to produce artworks based on a guide question provided by the organizers, encouraging deeper reflection on the theme. Meanwhile, slogan-making participants crafted original lines that captured the essence of “Ad Astra,” emphasizing emotional awareness, growth, and resilience.

The event aimed not only to provide a platform for students to demonstrate their talents but also to promote relaxation and meaningful connection among participants. By blending creativity with self-expression, the Meliors Society reinforced the importance of mental well-being and community engagement within the academic environment.

Organizers expressed their appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of students, noting that the event successfully embodied its theme and guiding students through feeling, flourishing, and forging their own paths.

𝐇𝐞 𝐈𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐧: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬
𝘉𝘺 𝘏𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘺 𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰, 𝘛𝘉𝘊 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳

Today, we pause to remember one of the most meaningful moments in the Christian faith — the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead.

Three days after He was crucified, bearing the weight of humanity's sins through suffering and death, Jesus defeated the grave. The tomb was empty, and death simply could not hold Him. That one moment changed everything — for those who were there, and for every person who has ever placed their faith in Him. Easter, however, speaks to something even greater than a single event. It tells us that love wins over hatred, that darkness cannot silence the light, and that no difficult season in life has the final say. Just as Christ rose, our own hardships can give way to something far more beautiful.

Because He rose, we are given the strength to carry on, the heart to forgive, and the confidence to believe that better days are coming. Easter is not only a promise of eternal life — it is a call to live differently today, with sincerity, humility, and love for the people around us. So on this day, let us take a moment to be grateful — not just through words, but through the kindness and care we extend to others.

He is risen. And as long as that remains true, hope will never run out.
