Buglas Writers Guild celebrates World Folklore Day today, August 22! On this day in 1846, a British man named William G. Thorns mentioned the term folklore for the very first time in an article titled "Atheneum." The observance celebrates the importance of oral stories passed down from generation to generation, teaching wisdom and values. Let's remember to celebrate traditions, culture, and beliefs for future generations to enjoy!

We are now indexed in Asian Science Citation Index (ASCI). ASCI is "a multidisciplinary citation database that indexes international scholarly journals across science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and the humanities. It aims to support open-access publishing and increase research visibility globally" (https://ascidatabase.com/home.php).

Langkit Journal is currently working towards its inclusion in more reputable, high-stake indexing bodies. Through the collective efforts of our contributors, reviewers, editorial teams and the MSU-IIT administration, we hope to achieve this goal soon to fulfill our mandate of bringing scientific knowledge within reach of all communities.

The call for submissions for the 13th issue is now open to all writers and artists with ties to the Bangsamoro.

We accept works in Filipino, English, hybrid languages, and any of the languages spoken across BARMM territories—Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Tawi-Tawi, as well as Sulu. For works written in regional languages, please include a Filipino or English translation.

Bangsamoro Literary Review pays a token fee for accepted works, including short stories, poems, essays, reviews, drawings, illustrations, and hybrid narratives.

There is no specific theme for this issue. Contributors are free to explore any subject.

Submissions may consist of:
Poems (maximum of 5), or
Essays, reviews and short stories (minimum of 1,000 words)
Please follow these formatting guidelines:
Submit your work as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx), double-spaced except for poetry submission, 12-point font (Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri). PDF files will not be read.

Submissions that do not follow this format will not be read.

All submissions will be screened to ensure they are original and not plagiarized or AI-generated.
