Today, we remember the day our national hero, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥 who sacrificed his life for our country. He is famous for the creation of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo; he held a mirror to a wounded nation, exposing cruelty, awakening conscience, and slavery, reminding people of their dignity. He did not raise a sword, yet his words struck deeper than steel; he did not call for blood, yet he gave his own. With calm resolve at Bagumbayan, he sealed his work with sacrifice, trusting that a seed planted in pain would rise as freedom.

Today, his legacy still walks with us—in every act of justice, in every voice that dares to speak, and in a nation that remembers the price of its awakening.🇵🇭

This year, we Cebuanos faced many challenges together. Earthquakes and typhoons tested our strength, but they also showed our courage and unity. Together with co-researchers 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐝, this study offers valuable insights into the challenges and support systems that influence first-year student retention and well-being in today’s evolving digital learning environment.

This achievement inspires Social Studies students to deepen their research pursuits, take part in academic conferences, and contribute actively to the expanding body of knowledge in the discipline.

A statesman of courage and service, Sergio Osmeña Sr., left a legacy that shaped our nation.

September 9 marks Osmeña Day, honoring the Grand Old Man of Cebu and the 4th President of the Philippines. He joined Gen. MacArthur in the historic Leyte Landing during World War II and completed the remaining years of the Commonwealth, dedicating himself to rebuilding the nation after liberation. His wisdom and service remain an inspiration.

“𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐩 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐚,” Isang tanyag na kasabihan na ginagamit hanggang sa kasalukuyan, na dapat natin tandaan, nagpapaalala sa atin ng kahalagahan ng ating wika. Kaugnay nito, ipinagdiriwang ang 𝗕𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝗸𝗮 tuwing Agosto upang parangalan at itaguyod ang wikang Filipino at kultura natin. Nagsimula ito noong 1946 bilang Linggo ng Wika sa ilalim ng pamahalaan ni Pangulong Osmeña, inilipat ni Pangulong Magsaysay sa Agosto 13–19 upang gunitain ang kaarawan ni Manuel L. Quezon, at noong 1997, pinalawak ni Pangulong Ramos ang pagdiriwang sa buong buwan sa pamamagitan ng 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗴. 𝟭𝟬𝟰𝟭.

Sa mahigit 170 wika na ginagamit sa buong bansa, nagsisilbing tulay ang Filipino na nag-uugnay sa atin. Ginugunita ito ng mga paaralan at komunidad sa pamamagitan ng pagsusuot ng tradisyonal na kasuotan, pagtatanghal, awit, tula, at selebrasyon ng parehong wikang Filipino at katutubo. Every 𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭, the Philippines observes 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲, established under 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝗼. 𝟵𝟮𝟱𝟲 (𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟰), to honor the life and service of 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙤 “𝙉𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙮” 𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙅𝙧.

Remembered as a fearless critic of dictatorship, Ninoy’s assassination in 1983 became a defining moment in history, awakening the Filipino people’s fight for democracy and freedom. His life and death turned him into an icon of courage whose unwavering stand against oppression continues to resonate decades later. His famous words, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫,” reflect his conviction and remind every generation that our freedom was gained through resilience, determination, and the enduring pursuit of justice.
