#𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗜𝗻𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 | 𝗖-𝗟𝗔 𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻: 𝗙𝘂𝗻, 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁

“It’s never too late to feel loved, seen, and connected.”

On October 28, 2025, the AB Psychology researchers, in partnership with L.A Extension Services- University of Luzon and Psychenosi, successfully implemented the project “C-LA Lolo at Lola Naman: Fun, Talk, and Connect” at 𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗗 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰. This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly, 𝗦𝗗𝗚 3: 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗗𝗚 4: 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗗𝗚 17: 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀.

This initiative was founded on the 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 research titled “𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗗 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰.” The study revealed that religious involvement, social engagement, and caregiver support are the primary factors that help elderly residents feel belongingness, love, and care within the institution. The findings highlighted that spirituality serves as a strong emotional foundation for the residents. Their faith and trust in God provide comfort and hope, even in the absence of family. Moreover, positive relationships with caregivers and peers greatly influence their perception of being valued and supported. The residents also expressed that active participation in group activities and daily interactions brings joy, purpose, and a sense of community.

In response to these findings, the researchers conducted three activities designed to enhance emotional and social well-being: the Umagang Kay Ginhawa, KwenTuwa: Afternoon Tambayan, and Expressions of Love. Through this initiative, the project aims to create a more vibrant, interactive, and compassionate care environment, where the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our grandparents (lolo and lola) is prioritized alongside their physical health.

Indeed, this project reminds us that mental health is as important as physical health, and that kindness, faith, and community are important in sustaining the well-being of the elderly.

40𝙩𝙝 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 25 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝘿𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣

The 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 proudly joins the University of Luzon in celebrating the success of the 40𝙩𝙝 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 25 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝘿𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 held on October 9, 2025, at the Don Luis Samson Estadio.

With the collective effort of our dedicated students, faculty, and partners from the Philippine Red Cross Chapters of Pangasinan, Dagupan City, and San Carlos City, this year’s campaign gathered an inspiring total of 318 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙚𝙨, whose selfless contributions will help save countless lives across our communities. Once again we saw the Luzonian's spirit of compassion and service.

In support of this life-saving initiative, the College of Liberal Arts Extension Services (CLA-ES), with the Dean, Dr. Carmelita S. Quinto, faculty members, staff, and student volunteers, extended heartfelt care to all donors and volunteers by providing 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙡𝙪𝙜𝙖𝙬 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙚𝙜𝙜 in the morning and 𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙟𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙚 in the afternoon. A simple yet meaningful act that nourishes both body and spirit.

This initiative reflects 𝙇𝘼 𝙀𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 continued commitment to community service, and reinforcing bayanihan within and beyond the university. Together, we uphold the 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨 (𝙎𝘿𝙂 3, 𝙎𝘿𝙂 10, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝘿𝙂 17) through compassion-driven action and collaboration.

With hearts full and spirits high, the College of Liberal Arts Extension Services successfully held Project LAYA: Learning and Advocacy, Yielding Advancement for All as part of CLA Week 2025, with the theme “Nurturing Potentials and Inclusivity through Stories, Sharing, and Service.”

Throughout the program, the children of The Haven engaged in activities that nurtured joy, creativity, and inclusivity:
-Storytelling session which inspired kindness, respect, and empathy toward inclusivity
-Enrichment activity highlighting self-reflection and collaboration
-Symbolic commitment board where children pledged and affirmed core values
-Feeding activity that closed the program with a balanced, nutritious meal

Anchored on the Liberal Arts vision of working toward a free and liberating society, this initiative—supported by CLA Extension Services, faculty, student officers, and volunteers—serves as a meaningful expression of our mission: to serve, to uplift, and to advocate.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Jeff B. Villafania, the Center Head, and all The Haven staff and personnel for their warm welcome and invaluable support in making this event possible.

Ultimately, the program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
