The University of Luzon Research Center, in collaboration with the UL Graduate School (UL GS), successfully conducted a Faculty Seminar and Training on Intellectual Property with the theme, “Navigating Intellectual Property: A Guide for Researchers and Innovators,” on July 14, 2026, at the UL AVR, 3rd Floor Library.

The seminar and training was facilitated by Atty. Gerald Tabadero, IP Consultant and Faculty Member of UL Graduate School, who provided valuable insights on intellectual property, its importance, and its role in protecting and maximizing the impact of researchers' and innovators' work.

Also present during the event was Dr. Jordan H. Llego, Research and Internationalization Consultant of UL Graduate School, who shared an inspiring message, encouraging faculty members and researchers to pursue meaningful and impactful research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and society.

The activity underscores the University of Luzon's commitment to strengthening research capacity, fostering innovation, and empowering its faculty and researchers through knowledge and continuous professional development.

In pursuit of the University of Luzon's commitment to advancing knowledge creation, fostering a culture of research and innovation, and strengthening its research pillar, the Research Center, in collaboration with the Graduate School, will conduct the UL Faculty Seminar and Training on Intellectual Property (IP) with the theme, “Navigating Intellectual Property: A Guide for Researchers and Innovators,” on July 14, 2026 (Tuesday), from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR), 3rd Floor, Library.

The University of Luzon was honored to co-host the RISE-ICREATE 2026 International Research Conference in partnership with WCC ATC Binalonan Campus on May 25–26, 2026, with the theme "Advancing Research through AI Integration."

RISE-ICREATE 2026 highlighted the expanding role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing research, innovation, and academic practice across various disciplines. The conference served as a dynamic international platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the presentation of AI-integrated research and innovative practices.

Among the highlights of the conference was the Adopt-a-Plant Program, which promoted environmental sustainability and ecological awareness among participating institutions. The University of Luzon actively participated in this initiative, represented by Dr. Jeanica C. Joson, Research Director.

Another significant event was the AI Readiness Forum, which explored the opportunities, challenges, and preparedness of educational institutions in integrating Artificial Intelligence into teaching, research, and academic operations. The University of Luzon was represented by Dr. Diosdado C. Caronongan, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, who contributed valuable insights to the discussion on AI readiness in higher education.

Demonstrating its commitment to research excellence, the University of Luzon was represented by six researchers who successfully presented their research papers in various conference sessions, contributing valuable insights to the global academic community.

The University of Luzon proudly welcomed the representatives from the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS) for a face-to-face mentoring and feedback session in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Localization Project in Pangasinan on May 7, 2026, held at the UL Graduate School Defense Room.

Joining the mentoring and feedback session were the CPS Monitoring and Evaluation Committee members: Dr. Perla Legaspi, Executive Director of the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS); Dr. Raymundo Rovillos, President of Pangasinan Polytechnic College; Prof. Nicanor Germono Jr., PPC Board Secretary and International Relations Officer; and Dr. Gio Albert Cruz, Research Director of PHINMA UPang. They shared their expertise and valuable insights in further strengthening the research outputs of the project.

Also present during the session were the University of Luzon CPS members: Dr. Jeanica C. Joson, UL Research Director; Prof. Darwin M. Juguilon, In-House Coordinator for Extension Services; Prof. Alvin O. Carillo, ULCBAHTM Extension Services Coordinator; and Prof. Ma. Theresa H. Bianzon, ULCBAHTM Research Coordinator.

Dr. Jeanica C. Joson presented the initial research report entitled “Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals: An Analysis of the SDG Implementation in the Municipality of Labrador, Pangasinan.” The study examined the extent of SDG implementation at the municipal level, highlighting existing programs, policies, accomplishments, and development indicators aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. The presentation also emphasized the importance of localized and evidence-based approaches in addressing community needs and strengthening policy implementation within local government units. The presentation received valuable commendations and constructive recommendations from the panel, highlighting the relevance, clarity, and significance of the study.

This meaningful engagement reflects the University of Luzon’s unwavering commitment to championing the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthening its partnership with the Center for Pangasinan Studies and the Provincial Government of Pangasinan in promoting research-driven, data-driven, and evidence-based development initiatives for the community.

2026 Institutional Research Conference

The University of Luzon successfully held its 2026 Institutional Research Conference anchored on the theme “Fostering Research Excellence at UL for Education and Institutional Advancement.”

From the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Hallway of Abstracts, led by Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego and Dr. Leonilo B. Capulso, to the inspiring messages of Dean Tarzita Marie P. Mayo, University President Dr. Luis M. Samson Jr., and VPAA Dr. Aurora Samson-Reyna, each moment reminded us that research is the bridge between what is and what could be.

The keynote address of Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, titled “Advancing Research Excellence in Higher Education: From Knowledge Generation to Institutional Impact,” emphasized the importance of global visibility in research and the four pillars of Higher Education Institutions: Instruction, Extension, Research, and Production. She also presented the University of Luzon Framework for Research Excellence, which serves as a strategic guide to strengthen research productivity, foster innovation, and maximize the societal impact of scholarly work.

The University of Luzon will convene its 2026 Institutional Research Conference on March 14, 2026. With the theme “Fostering Research Excellence at UL for Education and Institutional Advancement,” this academic gathering celebrates the power of research in shaping knowledge, strengthening academic collaboration, and contributing to institutional growth and innovation.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I, as our Keynote Speaker, who will present the topic:
“Advancing Research Excellence in Higher Education: From Knowledge Generation to Institutional Impact.”

Joining us as Plenary Speaker is Dr. Leonilo B. Capulso, President and CEO of Beyond Books Publication, who will deliver the talk:
