Please be guided by the following arrangements for tomorrow, August 26, 2026, as L-NU continues to prioritize the safety and welfare of our Lyceans, faculty, and personnel:

Basic Education
Face-to-face classes remain suspended. Classes will continue through online flexible learning.

College Level
Lecture classes will be conducted through online flexible learning. OJT, clinical duties, internships, and other experiential activities may continue face-to-face only when conditions are safe and the concerned facilities/agencies are operational.

Flexibility in attendance, participation, and submission deadlines shall continue to be extended to students who are affected by the flooding or are experiencing difficulties related to transportation, or other circumstances brought about by the recent weather conditions.

Office Operations
Regular onsite work will continue in all offices and departments.

Campus fogging will be conducted across the university, including classrooms and offices, starting at 3:00 PM. All students and employees must leave the campus before this time, except those assigned to assist.

Our priority remains the safety and welfare of everyone while ensuring continuity of learning and services.

**More Than Learning Modalities: A Commitment to Student Care**

At Lyceum-Northwestern University, student care begins with listening.

Personnel from the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) went around the L-NU campus to personally assess the current situation and, more importantly, to listen to our studentsβ€”their experiences, concerns, and challenges in continuing their learning amid the recent adverse weather conditions and flooding.

These conversations provided valuable insights into the realities our learners face, including challenges in transportation, connectivity, and other circumstances affecting their participation in classes.

More than simply gathering information, the OVPAA carefully considered these student voices and presented their concerns and experiences to the University Administration as important inputs in determining appropriate and responsive learning modalities, academic arrangements, and student-support measures.

Because at L-NU, flexibility is not simply about changing the mode of instruction. It is about understanding the learner behind every attendance record, deadline, and classroom.

This initiative reflects the University's commitment to student-centered and compassionate educationβ€”one that listens before it decides and responds with both academic responsibility and genuine care.

It also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:

To prioritize the safety, welfare, and comfort of our students, classes may be dismissed as early as 1:00 PM and not later than 3:00 PM today, August 24, 2026.

This arrangement is intended to give students enough time to travel home safely before the forecasted heavy rains and to help them avoid the afternoon rush hour.

Students are advised to coordinate with their respective faculty members and academic units regarding dismissal arrangements.

Please stay safe, remain alert to weather advisories, and take extra care on your way home.

Please be informed that Face-to-Face Classes for the College Level will resume on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Students who may still be affected by flooding or unsafe travel conditions are advised to prioritize their safety. Flexibility and consideration will be given as needed.

For Basic Education, face-to-face classes remain suspended and Online Alternative Learning will continue.

**FLEX-LNU 360: Flexible Learning Excellence for Every Learner**

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA), through the Center for Curriculum Innovation and Professional Development (CCIPD), conducted a university-wide webinar on flexible learning led by Dr. Rodney Odesson P. Raguindin, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of CCIPD, and UPOU Executive Course in Remote Learning Completer together with Ms. Lady Ansherina Frias, OVPAA Administrative Assistant.

The session engaged Deans, Academic Heads, and Faculty Members in strengthening the effective implementation of flexible learning, particularly during periods of flooding, adverse weather, connectivity challenges, and other disruptions that may affect learning continuity.

Key discussions covered L-NU's flexible learning framework; flexible, face-to-face, blended, distance, online, and modular learning; synchronous and asynchronous approaches; teaching and learning strategies; collaborative activities; authentic assessment; student support; effective use of Google Classroom; and the role of Deans and Heads in monitoring teaching quality and learner engagement.

The webinar emphasized that flexible learning is not simply about posting lessons online. It requires accessible learning materials, meaningful interaction, consultation, timely feedback, appropriate assessment, and continuous academic support.

For Deans and Heads, it means ensuring quality implementation and monitoring learner participation and support. For faculty members, it means designing responsive and inclusive learning experiences. Most importantly, for students, it means having meaningful opportunities to continue learning despite differences in circumstances, connectivity, location, or access.

Anchored on , the initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

**Strengthening Responsible AI Leadership at L-NU**

Lyceum-Northwestern University continues to strengthen its commitment to responsible, innovative, and human-centered education as Dr. Rodney Odesson P. Raguindin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Head of the Center for Curriculum Innovation and Professional Development, and member of the University’s AI Integration in Education Committee, successfully completed the Global MOOC on the Ethics of AI, a course authorized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and sponsored by LG AI Research, earning a final grade of 100%.

The course provided a comprehensive exploration of the ethical, social, and governance dimensions of Artificial Intelligence through ten modules:

1. Foundations of AI Ethics
2. Human-AI Interaction
3. Safety & Security
4. Fairness, Non-Discrimination & Inclusion in AI
5. Privacy, Data Protection and Data Governance in AI
6. Transparency, Explainability and Accountability (TEA)
7. AI, Environment & Sustainability
8. Proportionality & Do No Harm
9. Human Autonomy, Meaningful Work, and the AI Economy
10. Global AI Governance

More than a personal academic milestone, the completion of this course contributes to L-NU’s continuing efforts to ensure that the integration of AI in teaching, learning, research, and institutional processes is guided not only by innovation, but also by ethics, fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, human autonomy, and responsible governance.

The knowledge gained from the program can further support the University’s initiatives in curriculum innovation, faculty development, AI literacy, institutional policy development, and the responsible adoption of AI technologies across academic and administrative functions.

As L-NU continues to explore the opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence, this achievement reinforces an important principle: the goal is not simply to use more AI, but to use AI wisely, responsibly, and always in service of people and education.
