Ash Wednesday: A Journey of Repentance and Renewal

Today, we begin the holy season of Lent with the burning of palms from last year’s celebration of Palm Sunday, transformed into ashes that mark our foreheads. This sacred ritual reminds us of the cycle of life, the call to humility, and the invitation to return to God with contrite hearts.

As we gather in the Holy Mass, we are reminded of the words: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” These ashes are not just symbols of mortality, but also of hope — a sign that through repentance, prayer, and sacrifice, we are renewed in Christ.

Ash Wednesday is more than tradition; it is a profound moment of reflection. It calls us to examine our lives, to let go of pride and selfishness, and to embrace the path of mercy, forgiveness, and love. May this season of Lent strengthen our faith, deepen our compassion, and guide us closer to the heart of God.

Let us walk together in this journey of forty days, preparing our hearts for the joy of Easter.

Last January 21, Feast of Santo Niño, the DS Dagupan City Choir offered songs of faith at St. Therese Parish, Dagupan City, under the care of the SVD missionaries. 🎼✨
With joy, we thank the SVD Fathers for welcoming us to serve.
