🤝 Strengthening Partnerships for Accessible Higher Education 🤝

On July 31, 2026, the Dagupan City Jail – Male Dormitory (DCJMD) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dagupan, in partnership with the University of Luzon, officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to support incoming college students and expand access to higher education.

Representing the University of Luzon in this significant milestone were members of the College of Computer Studies, including Dr. Diosdado C. Caronongan and other faculty members, who took part in the ceremonial signing of the agreement. ☁️ ULCCS Explores AI Innovation at the OpenClaw with AWS Workshop ☁️

The University of Luzon College of Computer Studies (ULCCS) continues to strengthen its commitment to emerging technologies as faculty members and students participated in the "OpenClaw with AWS Workshop" on July 25, 2026, held at Arellano St., Pantal, Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

Representing ULCCS were Prof. Rina V. Cabansag and Prof. Andrew C. Caronongan, together with students Jairus Aquino, Loisa Caronongan, and Ranuj Soriano, who actively engaged in the hands-on learning sessions.

Facilitated by Sir Joben Rara, Solutions Architect Manager at AWS Philippines, the workshop introduced participants to building and deploying AI agents using OpenClaw on Amazon Web Services (AWS) through a practical low-code/no-code approach. The session demonstrated how AI-powered workflows can be developed without extensive programming experience, making artificial intelligence more accessible to aspiring developers, educators, and technology professionals.

Beyond technical learning, the workshop also provided opportunities to network with fellow AI enthusiasts and industry practitioners while gaining valuable insights into cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation.

🎓 ULCCS Departmental Orientation 2026: Welcoming a New Generation of Future IT Professionals 🎓

The University of Luzon College of Computer Studies successfully conducted its Student Orientation on July 2, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the UL Multipurpose Hall, warmly welcoming students as they begin another exciting academic year.

The orientation opened with a Welcome Message from Dr. Diosdado C. Caronongan, who encouraged students to embrace the opportunities ahead with dedication, integrity, and a passion for continuous learning.
One of the key highlights of the program was the discussion on Academic Policies, which provided students with a comprehensive overview of the college's grading system, academic requirements, and expectations to help them succeed throughout their academic journey.

Students also received an orientation on the Laboratory Policy presented by Prof. Andrew C. Caronongan, emphasizing the proper use of laboratory facilities, safety protocols, and responsible utilization of resources to foster a productive learning environment.

The session also covered the Field Trip and On-the-Job Training (OJT) Guidelines, presented by Dr. Diosdado C. Caronongan, giving students valuable insights into experiential learning opportunities, professional conduct, and the requirements they will encounter as they prepare for industry exposure.

🩶🐯 ULCCS Joins Tiger Walk 2026: Welcoming the Newest Luzonian Tigers 🐯🩶

The College of Computer Studies (ULCCS) proudly joined the University of Luzon's Tiger Walk 2026 on July 1, 2026, warmly welcoming freshmen and transferee students as they officially began their journey as Luzonian Tigers.
Together with the other colleges of the University, ULCCS faculty members and students took part in the celebration, creating a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie, school pride, and Tiger spirit. The day began with the Holy Spirit Mass, followed by the Tiger Walk Parade, where the newest members of the Luzonian community received a heartfelt welcome from faculty, staff, and fellow students.

One of the highlights of the event was the College Roar Call, where ULCCS proudly showcased its enthusiasm, unity, and identity alongside the University's different colleges. The activity reflected the strong sense of belonging and collaboration that defines the College of Computer Studies and the University as a whole.

The program also introduced the University's Four Pillars—Academic Excellence, Research, Perecias, and Valias—while reminding students of the values and responsibilities they will uphold throughout their academic journey. Through the Pledge, Key of Responsibility Turnover, and the presentation of commemorative pins, freshmen and transferees officially became part of the Luzonian family.

The celebration concluded with fun-filled performances, games, and interactive activities, giving ULCCS freshmen the opportunity to connect with fellow students from different colleges, build new friendships, and experience the vibrant and welcoming community that awaits them at the University of Luzon.

The 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 proudly took part in the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝘂𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held on 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟮-𝟮𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, where we warmly welcomed our freshmen and transferee students to the beginning of an exciting academic journey.

For two memorable days, the 𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 became a space where students explored, interacted, and experienced what our college had to offer. Visitors enjoyed taking home 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 and 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, capturing memories at our 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵, and participating in 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 that brought smiles, laughter, and excitement to everyone throughout the event. More than just activities, these moments created opportunities to connect, build friendships, and become part of the growing CCS community.

The excitement continued on 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮 as the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 took center stage with 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 that showcased the talents of our students. The energy only grew stronger as 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 kept the audience engaged, creating an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm, school spirit, and moments to remember.

🤖 Exploring Pathways to AI-Driven Transformation in Education and Innovation 🤖

Faculty members of the College of Computer Studies participated via Zoom in the Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP) 2026 Q2 Meeting held on June 25, 2026. The virtual gathering provided valuable insights into the latest developments and initiatives shaping the country's growing AI ecosystem.

One of the key highlights of the meeting was the introduction of AI-in-a-Box, AAP's upcoming initiative designed to accelerate AI adoption among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The program aims to provide a practical and structured pathway toward becoming AI-enabled by integrating AI readiness assessment, governance frameworks, technology tools, skills development, and implementation guidance into a single package.

Participants also received updates from AAP President Michelle Alarcon, who shared the association's latest developments, partnerships, and strategic initiatives across industry, government, and academia. The meeting further highlighted opportunities for members to engage in current and future AAP projects that support the advancement of artificial intelligence in the Philippines.

The session served as a meaningful learning opportunity for the College of Computer Studies faculty, providing insights on emerging AI trends and strategies that can help strengthen innovation, teaching, research, and institutional readiness in the age of artificial intelligence.

🔒 Strengthening Data Privacy Compliance Through Professional Development 🔒

The University of Luzon continues to uphold its commitment to responsible information management and regulatory compliance as representatives of the institution attended the "Data Privacy Law Guidelines for Compliance Masterclass" on June 26, 2026, held at the Golden Pine Hotel, Baguio City.

The masterclass was conducted by Atty. Randolfo C. Yanza, Founder and President of the Organization of Data Privacy Professionals (ODPP), who shared practical insights on the implementation of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its application in organizational settings. Participants gained a deeper understanding of privacy compliance requirements, data protection responsibilities, risk management, and best practices for safeguarding personal information.

The seminar provided valuable learning opportunities for institutions seeking to strengthen their privacy programs and promote a culture of accountability in handling personal data. Through discussions and real-world examples, attendees enhanced their knowledge of current data privacy standards and compliance strategies.
