L-NU College of Dentistry Participates in R1HRDC Regional Research Conference 2026

The College of Dentistry of Lyceum-Northwestern University proudly participated in the 2026 Regional Research Conference of the Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) in partnership with the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), held on June 5, 2026, at the UNP Gymnasium in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Under the Professional Category (Non-Competing), the study entitled “DentAlign: An Innovative Ergonomic Dental Chair Design for Posture Optimization” was presented by Dr. Ma. Theresa Fernandez through the conference's poster exhibit. Similarly, under the Student Category (Non-Competing), the study entitled “Blueberry (Vaccinium myrtoides (Blume) Miq.) Fruit Extract as a Dental Plaque Disclosing Solution” was presented by Ms. Tzaitel Banal. Through these presentations, the conference served as a valuable platform for disseminating research findings and exchanging knowledge among researchers, health professionals, and academic institutions in the region.

With the theme, “Harnessing Ethical AI for Relevant and Impactful Health Research,” the conference highlighted the role of ethical and innovative technologies in advancing health research. The College's participation reflects its commitment to fostering a culture of research, aligned with the university's pursuit of excellence in research and innovation.

LEADING WITH PURPOSE : Excellence, Empowerment and Service

The TATLONG BITUIN AWARD FOR INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE is conferred upon Dr. Evangeline Flores-Padlan, Dean of the College of Dentistry, as a testament to her remarkable achievements and enduring commitment to public service by the Department of Health National Association of Dentists (DHNAD), led by its president, Dr. Raphael Cezar B. Casanova. The award was presented during the 61st DHNAD National Convention Awards Night on March 3, 2026, at the Alaminos City Convention Center.

This prestigious award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication in advancing oral health programs, strengthening public health initiatives, and fostering meaningful partnerships that have positively impacted communities across the Philippines. As Public Health Leaders representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the awardees embody the spirit of Service, Excellence, Integrity, and Nation-building that DHNAD upholds.

Through their vision, leadership, and steadfast support of public health and oral healthcare advocacies, they have become valuable partners in promoting healthier communities and improving the quality of life for the Filipino people.

LYCEANS : Taking the Lead

Once again, Lyceans shine at the 117th PDA Awards Night 2026. Our alumni from Lyceum Northwestern University have carved a niche in the history of organized dentistry through their exemplary works in education, research, and public engagement during the 117th Philippine Dental Association Awards Night at Manila Hotel on May 15, 2026.

Dr. Daniel R. Farnacio (batch 1998), a prominent dental expert and authority in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Implantology, with 27 years of clinical, academic, and administrative experience, was recognized as the Outstanding President of the PDA-Pangasinan Chapter. He also received the Outstanding Public Service Award. His dedication to enhancing dental practice and education has established him as a renowned dentist both locally and globally.

Moreover, with Dr. Farnacio at the helm, the Pangasinan Chapter received the Outstanding Chapter Award and achieved Second Place in the Campaign Against Illegal Practice.

Dr. Raphael Cezar B. Casanova (batch 2007), a public health dentist at RHU Rosales, Pangasinan, with more than a decade of dedicated service, has shown exemplary leadership in both local and national arenas. Beyond dentistry, he has embraced diverse responsibilities demonstrating commitment and excellence in clinical practice and public health initiatives. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded Most Outstanding Affiliate President of the Department of Health National Association of Dentists and the Outstanding Public Service Award from the Philippine Dental Association.
