Igniting the Flame: A Historic Start to UL PALARO 2026

Last February 16, 2026, the University grounds vibrated with energy and camaraderie as we officially commenced the much-anticipated UL PALARO 2026.

The ceremony was a magnificent display of unity and excellence. The evening began on a solemn note as the UL Harmonics led the prayer and a stirring rendition of the national anthem, setting a tone of pride and reverence. The pageantry continued with the vibrant Parade of Athletes, followed by the much-celebrated presentation of Mr. and Ms. UL.

In a powerful symbol of academic leadership, the banner-raising ceremony was led by the esteemed Deans and Council Presidents. The atmosphere reached a fever pitch during the torch relay, as representatives from the different departments carried the flame, signifying the unity of the entire academic community.

We are proud to announce that the Games were officially declared open by Dean Tzarita Marie P. Mayo of the College of Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy, and Biology, in her capacity as the Host for University Wide Activities for A.Y. 2025-2026.

Adding energy and artistry to the evening, the UL Dance Company delivered a spectacular intermission performance that captivated the audience and amplified the festive spirit.

Upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship, the Oath of Amateurism was passionately delivered by Mr. Jan Robbie Nathaniel, a student from the Medical Laboratory Science program.

Following the declaration, the ceremonial tossing of the ball was graciously facilitated by Dean Tzarita Marie P. Mayo alongside the Women’s Basketball players, surrounded by the different Department Heads and Deans, officially signaling the start of the ball games.

Immediately after the program concluded, the much-anticipated competitions commenced across various venues, featuring intense matches in Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, and Chess.
