This also serves as an acknowledgment of the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our officers in ensuring that the organization remained active, effective, and responsive throughout the academic year.

A night to remember! ✨

Last May 23, 2026, the Sociological Society successfully conducted its Send-Off Party and 1st Candle Lighting Ceremony — a meaningful celebration filled with joy, gratitude, and unforgettable memories. 🕯️💛

The candle lighting symbolized hope, unity, and the journey ahead, while the send-off party gave graduates the chance to celebrate friendships, shared experiences, and the bonds they have built together.

Ang tagumpay na ito ay sumasalamin hindi lamang sa iyong husay bilang isang mananaliksik, kundi pati na rin sa iyong dedikasyon bilang isang g**o at mentor. Sa pamamagitan ng iyong mga pag-aaral, mas naipapakita ang kahalagahan ng pag-unawa sa lipunan at kung paano ito nakatutulong sa paghubog ng mas makabuluhang kaalaman.

𝗔 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿

Kaliwa’t kanang isyu ang kinakaharap ng Pilipinas sa usaping politika. Sa halip na maayos at tahimik na pamamahala, mistulang political theater na ang nagiging kalakaran sa Senado.

Sa mga nagdaang buwan, naging usap-usapan ang kontrobersyal na pagkawala ng presensya ni Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa sa ilang Senate appearances, lalo na sa gitna ng kaniyang isyu sa International Criminal Court (ICC) kaugnay ng imbestigasyon sa administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte hinggil sa kampanya kontra droga. Subalit nang muli siyang humarap sa Senado, naging emosyonal ang kaniyang mga talumpati at dramatiko ang kaniyang mga apela. Sa lumalaganap na opinyon ng masa, tila hindi na obhetibong debate ang nagaganap kundi isa nang political theater.

Dagdag pa rito ang mabilisang paglipat ng mga diskurso mula sa seryosong usapin tungo sa personal na alitan. Ang mainit na palitan nina Senador Kiko Pangilinan at Robin Padilla tungkol sa ICC at kay dela Rosa ay nagpapakita kung paanong hindi na natutupad ng Senado ang tungkulin nitong magsilbing espasyo para sa maayos at makabuluhang deliberasyon. Nagkaroon pa ng bantang ethics complaint na diumano’y nais isampa ni Padilla laban kay Pangilinan.

Mas lalo pang pinaigting ang kawalan ng tiwala ng masa sa gobyerno nang ibalitang umano’y nakalabas na ng Senado si Senador Bato alas-2:30 ng madaling araw noong Mayo 14, 2026, matapos ang naiulat na putukan sa loob mismo ng Senado noong gabi bago ito. Naging palaisipan kung ito nga ba ay mga pakana lamang o hindi. Para sa maraming Pilipino, lalo lamang nitong pinataas ang mga tanong hinggil sa transparency, pananagutan, at katatagan ng mga institusyon. Tanong ng bayan ay, “Paano magiging pag-asa ng bayan ang kabataan kung sila mismo ay wala nang nakikitang pag-asa rito?.” Samantala‚ katotohanan pa rin ang hiling ng mga mamamayan‚ gayundin ang kaligtasan ng bawat taong inosente at may tuwid na adhikain para sa bayan.

Kaya para sa mga mamamayang Pilipino, hindi sapat ang pagiging informed lamang. Kailangan nating makiisa, magtanong, at kritikal na makialam sa mga isyung panlipunan dahil sa huli, ang lipunan ay hindi lamang binubuo ng mga nasa kapangyarihan, kundi pati ng mga mamamayang pinipiling magsalita o manahimik.

Humihina na ang malayang pananagutan. Tila ba nagiging entertainment na lamang ang politika; mas nangingibabaw pa ang dramatic confrontations at viral moments kaysa sa tunay na reporma at makabuluhang polisiya.

Sa lahat ng mga nangyayaring ito, malinaw na kung titingnan sa lente ng sosyolohiya, nagkakaroon ng mapanganib na pagnonormalisa sa dysfunction ng politika. Sa halip na tunay na mapanagot ang mga lumalabag sa batas, nagiging karaniwan na lamang ang mga alegasyon ng korapsyon, pamamayani ng mga politikal na dinastiya, at walang katapusang pagtatanggol sa mga politiko.

Sa huli‚ positibo pa ring naghahangad ang bawat mamamayang Pilipino sa patas at makatarungang pamamahala. Dahil sa kabila ng mga alitang ito‚ iisa pa rin ang layunin ng bawat isa— tahimik, patas, at nagkakaisang bansa.
