Decent and appropriate dance attire.

𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 | The Leap of One, The Pride of Many

In every performance, there comes a leap that takes more than strength—it takes courage. For Zaina Lucy O. Torrecampo, 18, a Senior High School student of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University–Main Campus, that leap carried her beyond borders as she represented the country in Malaysia’s International Dance Festival. Among the many competitors, she stood as the only Filipino ballerina in her category.

“It was really pressuring because I am the only Filipino in my category,” Zaina admitted. But just as every dancer learns to land firmly after a daring jump, she transformed pressure into poise. Her performance became more than a routine—it became a statement that Filipino talent belongs on any stage.

Her ballet story began at six years old. By 11, she was already competing. Her proudest highlight came last year when she had her biggest comeback, winning a local competition that reminded her that setbacks can always be rewritten into victories.

Yet Zaina’s motivation goes beyond personal triumph. “I want to inspire others to pursue arts and dance,” she shared.

And even with international recognition, she keeps her feet grounded: “Stay humble despite achieving things.”

In her category, she may have been the only Filipino, but Zaina knows she dances not only for herself. Every leap carried the pride of her classmates, her school, and her nation. Indeed, the leap of one has become the pride of many.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Pride and honor for the Tuna Capital as Zaina Lucy Ong Torrecampo, a ballet scholar of Joycee's Tiptoe Dance Arts Studio and Senior High student of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU), shone brightly at the International Dance Arts Festival in Malaysia held last September 15–16, 2025.

Carrying the banner of General Santos City as its sole representative, Zaina showcased both grace and discipline on stage, impressing judges and fellow performers alike. Her outstanding performance brought home the following awards:

🥈 Silver Medal – Classical Ballet

🏆 Highest Score – Jazz

🌟 Platinum Award – Jazz

These achievements have earned Zaina a coveted spot at the International Dance Arts Festival Grand Finals in Singapore this coming November 2025, where she will again perform alongside top talents from across the globe.

Her success is a testament to her dedication, her mentors’ guidance, and the strong support of her dance family, school, and community. With every step and every turn, Zaina inspires young Generals to dream bigger and reach higher.

‼️REMINDERS‼️

Here’s what you need to know for the upcoming auditions:

1. All aspiring dancers must complete the online registration form prior to the audition.

2. Your audition piece should be at least one minute long.

3. Registration opens at 5:30PM at NDDU RB201 (2nd Floor, RB Building). Auditions will start at 6:00 PM at RB 202.

4. Upload your music via the Google Drive link provided below. No music, no audition!

5. Warm up and rehearse your routine at the practice area beforehand. Re-performing your piece during the audition is highly discouraged.

6. Wear appropriate attire upon entering the campus. Strictly no wearing of shorts.

7. Plastic bottles are also not allowed inside the campus. Bring your own water tumbler.
