The MMSU College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology is an institution of higher learning that aims to provide quality instruction in the fields of fisheries and aquatic sciences. The College also undertakes research, extension and production activities to support the thrusts of the University. Provide quality education in fisheries and aquatic resources of international standards, thereby producing world class manpower;
2. Conduct relevant researches in fisheries and aquatic sciences that are responsive to people’s needs and dynamic environment;
3. Engage in extension services through technology transfer, industry linkages or consortia with government and non-government organizations underscoring rational and sustainable development of fishery and aquatic resources in the region;
4. Implement income-generating projects that will showcase the generated technologies in fisheries and aquatic sciences while providing income to the University; and

The Bachelor of Fisheries Program seeks to:

1. Develop state of the art and innovative learning and instructional techniques and reliable student services that are founded on high standards of social, moral and spiritual values;
2. Carry out focused, high impact and relevant research and technology development activities for local, regional and national development;
3. Develop and implement replicable models of extension delivery for sustainable fisheries; and
4. Implement income-generating projects that will showcase the generated technologies while providing income for the University. Program Outcomes:

The graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries should have developed the ability to:
1. Display high levels of professionalism by their integrity, nationalism and ethical standards;
2. Contribute to the country’s need for sustainable/responsible fisheries and proper concepts of fisheries management and multi-sectoral approach to coastal management;
3. Practice sustainable aquaculture, capture fisheries and post-harvest technologies and aquatic resources utilization;
4. Develop, operate and effectively manage aquaculture production systems;
5. Utilize fisheries resources using innovative fishing methods which are responsible and sustainable;
6. Apply post-harvest practices that are compliant to international standards for food safety and quality; and
7. Manage and protect the integrity and quality of aquatic ecosystems and resources.
