Building a safer and more compassionate community begins with recognizing when someone may be in need and knowing how to respond with care.

The 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 successfully conducted the 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄: 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 Seminar, a 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, on 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐤 (𝐓𝐌𝐂).

With the theme and approach of RACE: Recognize, Assess, Convince, Entrust,” the seminar equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in identifying warning signs, responding effectively to crisis situations, facilitating appropriate referrals, and promoting sustained support and safe re-entry.

The meaningful gathering brought together guidance personnel and faculty members from 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨, 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨, 𝐈𝐧𝐜., 𝐒𝐭. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐏. 𝐎𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐈𝐧𝐜., and 𝐒𝐓𝐈 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨. The program was also attended by 𝐍𝐃𝐔 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥, and 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, all united by a shared commitment to strengthening mental health awareness and crisis support within their respective communities.

The program featured a series of meaningful sessions on Early Identification and Warning Signs, Effective Crisis Response and Referral Protocols, Sustained Follow-Up and Safe Re-entry, and Building a Proactive Campus Environment. Participants also engaged in a workshop and simulation on Gatekeeper Action in Practice, allowing them to apply their learning in meaningful situations.

The seminar was made more meaningful through the expertise of the resource speaker 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃. 𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐨, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, 𝐑𝐆𝐂, Director of the Guidance and Counseling Services Office of NDDU, together with the dedicated efforts of the Guidance and Testing Center, facilitators, group leaders, technical team, secretariat, PFG members, and the entire NDU community.

As we continue to face the challenges surrounding mental health and crisis situations, may we all be reminded that every act of awareness, compassion, and timely support can make a difference.

Together, let us continue to recognize those in need, assess situations with care, convince individuals to seek help, and entrust them to the appropriate support.

Together, we lead the RACE toward saving lives with compassion, knowledge, understanding, and hope.

The triennial theme for World Su***de Prevention Day for 2024–2026 is “Changing the Narrative on Su***de,” with the call to action “Start the Conversation.”

This World Su***de Prevention Day, let’s help change the way we talk about su***de. The theme calls for moving from silence and stigma toward openness, understanding, and support.

Changing the narrative means starting honest conversations about mental health, checking in on someone we care about, sharing support, and helping create a community where people feel heard, valued, and understood.

💛 Listen. Reach out. Start the conversation. Remind someone that they are not alone.
