The 1st OMI Schools Summit formally concluded with a spirit of gratitude, unity, and renewed commitment to the shared mission of OMI Education.
Anchored on the theme, โ : Celebrating the OMI Bicentennial Jubilee, Sharing in the OMI Mission,โ the summit served as a significant culmination of the OMI Bicentennial celebration, commemorating two centuries of missionary service, Catholic education, and faith formation.

The morning sessions of the 1st OMI Schools Summit reflected the true mission and identity of the Oblates โ bringing the Good News to the people, especially the poor, and living a life of service, charity, and mission.
Representatives from the different OMI schools engaged in meaningful discussions, collaborative exchanges, and presentations of institutional initiatives and notable experiences that showcased the unique contributions of each OMI school in the areas of leadership, innovation, mission, and service.

Notre Dame University (NDU) held a commemorative program marking the culmination of the OMI Bicentennial Jubilee, the Feast Day of St. Eugene de Mazenod, and the 40th anniversary of the first religious profession of vows of Fr. Francis Efren C. Zabala, OMI, DMin., on May 21, 2026 at the Cardinal Quevedo Gymnasium.
The program formally opened with an opening salvo presented by the University Choral, setting a solemn tone for the celebration. This was followed by welcome remarks from Dr. Delma A. Yuarata, who greeted attendees and emphasized the significance of the occasion for the OMI community and Notre Dame University.
โWe celebrate their four decades of service at the altar, in leadership, and in the community that helped shape minds, and brought people closer to God,โ she said.
An introduction of the celebrant followed, formally recognizing Fr. Zabala and his 40 years of religious service and mission. The program continued with a special presentation and tribute message from the ICT Team, highlighting his contributions and legacy within the institution and the wider Church community.
A series of intermission performances from Detour, the Junior High School Dance Troupe, a vocal solo and duet, and a folk dance added color to the program before Fr. Zabala delivered his message, reflecting on his vocation and expressing gratitude for the communityโs support throughout his ministry.
Fr. Zabala said, โWe are called to celebrate all this jubilee blessings despite all the challenges that come our way.โ
This was followed by congratulatory messages from various stakeholders who acknowledged his enduring dedication and leadership. The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Ronald G. Mamaril, who underscored the significance of the celebration for the NDU community. The event ended with a photo opportunity and dinner, marking the close of the commemoration.
